Halifax Smart Cities Community Event

ICTC invites all Halifax Municipality Residents to a public virtual forum to discuss the notion of a smart Halifax. On March 30th, 2021, the Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC) will be holding a public virtual forum (over ZOOM) to openly discuss the notion of a smart Halifax. We want to hear from you, HRM residents! What is a “smart city?” Talk of smart cities may be in fashion these days but what does it actually mean for our urban spaces and their inhabitants? What are key technologies driving this change, and how will “smart” developments affect you as a Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) resident? What is already taking place, and what should happen to ensure that future cities are not only smart but effective, inclusive and accessible? Introduction to Image-Guided Therapy and Artificial Intelligence

In the first half of this lecture, Dr. Martel will present an overview of the concept of image-guided therapy (IGT), the introduction of new imaging modalities, and current applications in various clinical domains including surgical procedures and therapeutic interventions. The second part of the session will provide a high-level overview of the field of artificial intelligence beginning with an overview of terminology and historical context to shed light on the current state of the field. The lecture progresses to a more technical focus to provide a basic understanding of what machine learning is and what common types of machine learning are, while considering a variety of image-guided therapy applications.
