Event Information ​COVID-19 has turned work life upside down. The past two years have not been kind, and work situations have changed for almost everyone. We all have our own work stories, including ups and downs, work-from-home struggles, and even the halting of businesses and loss of jobs. There are countless ways in which each of our work journeys may not have gone as expected. ​​Join ICTC on August 16th at 5:30 pm and connect with fellow Nova Scotia residents as we discuss overcoming work barriers and making a professional rebound. ​​This meetup is for Black Canadians, People of Colour, and Newcomers to share experiences over the last two years, discuss needs and challenges, and hear about career advancement and growth pathways. ​​*A $20 Amazon gift card will be provided as an honorarium to participants who actively engage in this event's discussion. ​​Let's kick off a more equitable rebound! ​​What to expect: An open session where participants can propose topics they are interested in and discuss them with other people in similar situations. Cool off with STEM Connector at the Halifax Commons! About this event Celebrate the connections you made this summer at STEM Connector and join us in the Halifax Commons for freezies and frisbees. Bring your own snacks and blanket and meet STEM students and future colleagues for a relaxing outdoor social. Location: An email and Instagram post will be made on the day of the event with the exact location. Follow @deepsenseca or @surgeinnovation for more updates. Rain Date: 6 pm, Thursday, August 18. About Us STEM Connector is a flash mentorship program connecting post-secondary STEM students with industry professionals, researchers, and other students for professional development. We work to provide short-term, meaningful connections with mentors and peers to work on specific skills in your field. STEM Connector is run through the MentorCity online platform, where you can choose your own mentor for short-term mentorship, schedule meeting times, and chat and collaborate with people across the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math spectrum. Our program runs three terms in a year with members able to sign up for one or more terms. STEM Connector fall term starts September 1, but you can join at any time.
