Sobey School of Business’s 4th Annual Responsible Leadership Event

The 4th Annual Responsible Leadership event is on Friday, November 18 2022 at 9 a.m. AST and it will be in-person in Halifax. The theme is Digital Future: Ethics, Integrity, and Values. It is Saint Mary’s University’s goal to create community and dialogue around data ethics, digital citizenship, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in support of the Sobey School’s commitment to PRME and our new Master of Business Analytics (MBAN) program. Keynote speaker Juliette Powell is a consultant, researcher, and speaker whose expertise lies at the intersection of technology, business and ethics. Juliette advises large companies on the accelerating change that is underway due to AI-enabled technological innovation coupled with shifting social dynamics and heightened global competition. Her keynote will focus on AI leadership and how the digital transformation can coexist with ethical data sharing and analytics in business, education, transportation, banking, mobile, retail, and social gaming. The panel discussion “Data Analytics as Climate Action” will focus the conversation on the potential for big data and AI to advance an organization’s climate action goals. Hoist North Preston: Design Thinking

About this event When: Saturday, November 19, 2022 from 12:30pm to 2:00pm Where: North Preston Community Centre, Multipurpose Room, 44 Simmonds Road, North Preston, NS What is Hoist? Hoist sessions are led by industry experts and are designed to help teens explore and expand their interests in technology and entrepreneurship. Workshops develop skills in areas like design, coding, game development, and much more. Hoist sessions take place one Saturday a month (with the exception of July, August and December) and are targeted for teens ages 12 to 19. Topics change each month and are based on current trends, as well as the needs and interests of Hoist participants. This helps make each session unique and fun for the participants. November's Topic: Design Thinking During this fun and interactive session we will work together and go through the design thinking process. The Cape Breton Partnership invites you to join us on November 23 for an employer-focused Workplace Inclusion Workshop. Speaker Veronica Merryfield will discuss the importance of workplace inclusion and introduce Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion with a focus on the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. The second portion of the workshop will cover how employers can work towards inclusivity of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
