Digital Nova Scotia partners with This Is Marketing for new season of the All Hands on Tech podcast

Digital Nova Scotia is thrilled to announce the upcoming launch of Season 3 of our All Hands on Tech podcast on Tuesday, April 30. This season, we’re excited to be teaming up with long-time DNS member, This Is Marketing, to bring you episodes recorded from their brand-new studio in downtown Dartmouth.

In each episode, you will hear from local digital experts as we dive into all the amazing things happening in Nova Scotia’s fastest-growing sector. This includes the team at This Is Marketing, who we sat down with for our first episode of the new season:

Neil Stephen never set out to be a business owner, yet after 20 years in the marketing industry, he looks back with pride on his pivotal choice to launch This Is Marketing nearly a decade ago.

“When we started, I was just by myself as a solopreneur, helping people with their marketing, and it was just sort of friends,” said the CEO of his early years running the business.

Since its inception, the downtown Dartmouth marketing agency has flourished into a thriving 12-person team, which this week, celebrated nine years in business. Specializing in bolstering local businesses, they offer a comprehensive list of services including brand management, product packaging, consulting and digital support.

“We’re interested in building brands for the long run, and not necessarily for achieving tomorrow’s sales targets,” said Stephen. “Obviously, we want to achieve the sales targets, but if we’re doing so in a way that is detrimental to the viability of the brand, we’re going to counsel against that.”

As an avid podcast enthusiast himself, Stephen highlights one of the unique methods through which This Is Marketing enhances brand visibility: By providing rentable studio space for clients to produce their own podcasts.

“Our thought was: Let’s create a space that people can rent, they can come, they can learn how to record their own podcast, learn how to edit their own podcast, these sorts of things, and kind of be on their way,” said Stephen.

Recognizing the potential of podcasting as a primary element of communication strategies, forward-thinking marketers have embraced it wholeheartedly. Beyond just creating audio content, Stephen says podcasting serves as a springboard for generating a variety of multimedia assets, from social media snippets to video content. It’s not just about building a podcast; it’s about leveraging it as a catalyst for a broader brand of storytelling and audience engagement.
