Canada

• The country experienced growth in employment in December, amounting to 100 jobs, making it the fifth consecutive monthly gain.
• Part-time jobs increased while full-time jobs declined.
• The rate of unemployment saw no change from last month, remaining at 5.8%.
• The goods-producing sector lost jobs in December (-42,900), while the services producing sector saw growth of 43,100 jobs.

Atlantic Canada

• Employment grew at a strong pace in December, up from the prior month by 8,500 jobs.
• The growth occurred in both full-time and part-time positions, though primarily part time.
• The unemployment rate declined slightly in December to 7.3%, influenced by the solid job gains.
• The goods-producing sector added jobs (+2,000), while the services-producing sector saw growth of 6,500 jobs.
