Within this workshop, Disability Awareness Consultant Andrew Gurza using their lived experience as a disabled person, will walk you through how to make your workplace not only accessible but also work to become anti-ableist. Through real-world examples, a sense of humor and honesty, Andrew will help you understand that accessibility is more than just ramps, buttons and elevators, it is how a disabled person feels in the space. What are 3-Key Takeaways: Participants will understand what ableism is and how it affects the workplace, and be given the tools to call it out. Participants will learn about the different types of accessibility and how they can implement it in their own organizations and workplaces and; Participants will learn how to be anti-ableist at work and why that is important.

Big Data Analysis with Apache Spark

Apache Spark is a user-friendly open-source platform for large-scale data processing, analytics and for parallel-computing. Using Apache Spark and Python (PySpark), this workshop is aimed at analyzing data sets that are too large to be handled and processed by a single computer. With hands-on guided examples, the workshop covers the basics of Spark and Resilient Distributed Datasets (RDD) high-level architecture. The examples are mainly written in Python, hence the APIs covered are the ones available in PySpark, including Spark Core API (RDD API), Spark SQL, and Pandas on Spark. Participants will learn how to import data, use functions to transform, reduce and compile the data, and produce parallel algorithms that can run on Alliance clusters. Removing Endpoint Admin Rights from Technical Users: Stopping the Attack While Enabling the User

It's common knowledge that removing local admin rights is one of the most straightforward ways to protect an organization from cyberthreats. Without elevated privileges, threat actors can’t easily (if at all) identify admin accounts that can be used to move laterally and further an attack. In essence, without local admin rights, the endpoint is the end of the line for an attacker. It’s easy to remove local admin rights for end users that are in Marketing or Sales. But once you start trying to remove rights from technical users like development or QA that require more rights than just a local user, it becomes extremely difficult. It’s one of the reasons threat actors target these kinds of users in spear phishing attacks and job-themed social engineering attacks – the assumption is that the victim already has admin rights on the endpoint.
