Prompt, Build, Automate: The Project Managers New AI Skillset

    Virtual Event

Project managers are exploring AI tools like ChatGPT, but most are stopping at prompt engineering—writing one-off requests to help with emails, reports, or meeting summaries. That’s a good start, but there’s so much more we can do. In this one-hour session, I’ll walk you through what I see as the next step for project managers: going beyond prompts to build and automate with AI. I’ll share practical examples of how we can design simple AI tools, automate repetitive workflows, and start thinking more strategically about how AI fits into our projects. This talk is for PMs who want to move past the hype and start using AI in a more meaningful, hands-on way. 3 Key Takeaways What good prompt engineering looks like—and where it falls short How to build simple AI agents and workflows without being a developer What you can start automating in your projects right now Meet Your Presenter - Dr. Carl Peters I’m a PMP-certified project manager with a background in research, data science, and a lifelong interest in tech. After years of using Python, R, and LaTeX in scientific work, I became fascinated by AI—especially its potential beyond prompting. I recently completed the IBM AI Developer Professional […]

Finding Jobs in UX: What I Learned from Five Months of Unemployment

VOLTA 1800 Argyle Street #Unit 801, Halifax, NS, Canada

Details In a world where remote work is the norm and AI is transforming the landscape, finding the perfect UX job—or even a job—can feel overwhelming. That was certainly the case for our June speaker, Josh Salmon. When he found himself suddenly unemployed, it seemed like even a decade of experience didn’t count for much. In this talk, Josh will share what he learned during five months of job hunting: how he rediscovered skills he’d forgotten, made use of new tools (like AI), and stayed grounded through an uncertain chapter. He’ll talk about his journey from academia to the video game industry, to being laid off, and eventually finding a new home in healthcare UX. Along the way, Josh will cover practical tips on job searching, refining resumes (or portfolios), preparing for interviews, and staying sane throughout the process. Whether you’re just starting out or looking for a career change, we hope you’ll find something useful—and maybe even reassuring—in his story. Hope to see you there! 😊 > Agenda 7:00 PM Doors open, networking time 7:15 PM Introductions from the event hosts, Nata and Ruby 7:20 PM Finding Jobs in UX: What I Learned from Five Months of Unemployment with Josh Salmon 7:50 PM Q&A 8:15 PM Networking […]

SNMA Summer School: Your Content’s Off… Here’s Why (And How to Fix It)

As marketers, we're sometimes responsible for content across multiple brands, and the pressure to be efficient, consistent, and AI-savvy has never been higher. But in the drive to produce more, faster, many of us are noticing a cost: content that feels polished but interchangeable. A little too templated. A little less… real. This 30-minute session, led by Shannon Emmerson, founder/CEO of B Corp content agency Forge & Spark, offers a strategic reset. With the help of a mini 'authenticity audit,' you’ll identify where your brand’s voice may have lost its edge—and what you can do to bring it back. Designed for marketers who care about integrity as much as impact, this session will help you realign your content with the values, voice, and audience that matter most. About Shannon Emmerson: AUTHOR | CONTENT STRATEGIST | FOUNDER & CEO, FORGE & SPARK MEDIA Shannon Emmerson is a content strategist, agency founder, and author of Content With Purpose: Authentic Messaging and Marketing to Grow Your Business. As CEO of Forge & Spark Media—a certified B Corp content marketing agency based in Vancouver, B.C., Canada—she helps purpose-driven organizations and leaders tell authentic stories, build trust, and grow with integrity.
