Pictou County Partnership has the pleasure of hosting the annual Partners for Progress Conference. The 2023 conference works to support economic development throughout the province by bringing the Regional Enterprise Networks and other stakeholders and community members together for conversations surrounding a diverse spectrum of topics crucial to the growth and prosperity of our rural communities. Discussions and  development of action plans are focused on the four economic lenses: Grow Strategic Sectors: growing our share of high-paying, high growth, and high-productivity sectors. Pitch Competitions

Practice makes perfect. Pitch perfect. Volta Pitch Competitions are an opportunity for those in the Atlantic Canadian tech and innovation communities to practice their three-minute business pitch and receive feedback from peers and industry professionals. Our Quarterly Pitch Competitions provide participants with experience pitching to investors and potential early adopters. Each competition will be judged by a panel of entrepreneurs, potential investors and community leaders. Judging will be based on the pitch, business idea, and will focus on presentation quality and content. Quarterly Pitch Competitions are only open to residents of Atlantic Canada. An idea, product or company may be pitched a maximum of twice. Previous Volta Pitch Competition winners will not be allowed to pitch the same idea/business at future competitions (new businesses or ideas from the same company are permitted). ACENET: Visualization with R

While working with large sets of numbers, it is often quite useful to display the information graphically. Often, we use basic graph types such as histograms, scatter plots, bar charts, box plots etc. We will use R as our programming language for this workshop. Basic knowledge of R is highly recommended, although it is not mandatory. The learning objectives will include: Create simple scatterplots, histograms, and box plots. Compare the plotting features of base R and ggplot2 package. Plotting with ggplot2 Plotting time series data Arranging and Exporting plots. About this event More than 80% of NPower Canada alumni secure employment or enroll in higher education within 6 months of graduating, with 30-40% already placed into jobs upon completing training. Graduates launch digital careers in roles such as Help Desk Agent, Data Analyst, QA / Tester and Business Systems Analyst with companies like TELUS, Accenture and CIBC. NPower Canada is a registered charity launching individuals 18 + (with no maximum age) into meaningful digital careers. NPower Canada's virtually delivered programs provide participants with 15 weeks of no-cost, part-time tech skills training, including industry certifications, complemented by employability skills coaching and wraparound supports (including bus pass, interview clothing and laptops/WiFi based on financial need).
