The Royal United Services Institute of Nova Scotia extends an invitation to members of the Atlantic Canada Aerospace & Defence Association to presentations Wednesday, 14 September by Lieutenant-Colonel Julien Letarte, Royal Canadian Air Force, speaking about the RCAF’s Remotely Piloted Aircraft System, and Major Drew Larned, United States Air Force, speaking about US uncrewed aerial vehicle programs. Uncrewed aerial vehicles, including remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPAS), are rapidly being developed and employed for continental/homeland defence, security and safety missions by Canada, allies and adversaries. LCol Letarte will brief highlights of the RCAF’s RPAS project to provide a familiarization with this increasingly significant capability. MAJ Larned will speak about US programs, reflective of his experience with the MQ-9 Reaper unmanned aerial vehicle. Tech Wednesdays with NPower Canada

More than 80% of NPower Canada alumni secure employment or enroll in higher education within 6 months of graduating, with 30-40% already placed into jobs upon completing training. Graduates launch digital careers in roles such as Help Desk Agent, Data Analyst, QA / Tester and Business Systems Analyst with companies like TELUS, Accenture and CIBC. NPower Canada is a registered charity launching underserved young adults ages 17-30 into meaningful digital careers. NPower Canada's virtually delivered programs provide youth with 15 weeks of no-cost, part-time tech skills training, including industry certifications, complemented by employability skills coaching and wraparound supports (including bus pass, interview clothing and laptops/WiFi based on financial need). Program participants are also connected directly with employers, job retention supports and five years of alumni services including continued education and mentorship. Youth do not need any prior background in tech to apply. They must have completed their high school, Dogwood or GED, and be eligible to work in Canada. NPower Canada prioritizes serving lower-income, un/underemployed youth who are female-identified, IBPOC, 2SLGBTQ+, newcomers and youth with disabilities.
