Join us on January 18th at 1:00pm for the Plastic Waste Challenge - Ideation SessionOn January 18th, IGNITE is hosting the "Plastic Waste Challenge - Ideation Session." at the newly opened Halifax Pier21 at 1209 Marginal Road. This event will consist of three-afternoon sessions from 1:00pm-3:30pm AST, followed by a networking session until 5pm. If you are unable to attend in person, there is a virtual attendance option at registration. The Plastic Waste Challenge Ideation Session will take a deep dive into the Plastic Waste Challenge. Throughout the afternoon sessions, you will hear from Sobeys representatives about their current use of styrofoam trays and plastic wrap and why they are searching for an alternative. You will learn about the possibilities of creating a more sustainable product, and the materials that could or could not be recycled. Bio: Eric Leuthardt walks the line between art and technology and does it with a New York no-nonsense approach. WEKH Indigenous Coffee Break Series - 2022, provides monthly, 1-hour long sessions that connect aspiring and established Indigenous women entrepreneurs (IWEs) directly with, both Indigenous and non-Indigenous, ecosystem support organizations. These sessions aim to bring awareness to the resources and opportunities available to IWEs in various industries, regions, and sectors across the traditional lands and territories that make up what is known as Canada. These sessions are designed to create a safe space for IWEs to ask questions and seek the support they need during any stage of their entrepreneurial journey. More than 80% of NPower Canada alumni secure employment or enroll in higher education within 6 months of graduating, with 30-40% already placed into jobs upon completing training. Graduates launch digital careers in roles such as Help Desk Agent, Data Analyst, QA / Tester and Business Systems Analyst with companies like TELUS, Accenture and CIBC. NPower Canada is a registered charity launching underserved young adults ages 17-30 into meaningful digital careers. NPower Canada's virtually delivered programs provide youth with 15 weeks of no-cost, part-time tech skills training, including industry certifications, complemented by employability skills coaching and wraparound supports (including bus pass, interview clothing and laptops/WiFi based on financial need). Program participants are also connected directly with employers, job retention supports and five years of alumni services including continued education and mentorship. Youth do not need any prior background in tech to apply. They must have completed their high school, Dogwood or GED, and be eligible to work in Canada.
