About this event The Cape Breton Partnership invites you to join us on December 13 for Workplace Inclusion: Newcomer Workshop for Employers. Part one of the workshop will include guests from the Cape Breton Partnership and YREACH Cape Breton who will provide employers an overview of supports and services that they can implement to help support their staff that are new to the Island (newcomers). Part two of the workshop, is an interactive group activity with lots of “aha” moments - led by Paul Pickering from Immigrant Services Association of Nova Scotia (ISANS). This session will help employers take vital next steps, to increase awareness and skills for better retention, especially of international employees. We look forward to seeing you for a great morning of learning! Light refreshments will be provided. Are you leveraging micro-credentials when assessing job candidates or developing existing talent? Interested in frameworks that increase trust in micro-credential courses? ICTC invites you to participate in an in-person roundtable discussion on May 26th in Halifax! Event Details: Lifelong learning is increasingly viewed as a “must” vs. a “nice-to-have” in today’s digital economy, and micro-credentials are one way for learners to beef up their skills and competencies. However, the sheer volume of options and different standards associated with the micro-credential ecosystem makes it challenging for learners to confidently select training pathways that will give them the skills employers seek. To address this challenge, ICTC is leading research that is part of a multi-sector initiative to define, develop, and validate a micro-credential framework. On May 26th, ICTC is bringing together a group of Halifax’s digital economy leaders to share their perspectives on micro-credentials, including how they can be designed and deployed to address real-life labour market needs.
