Software as a service (SaaS) -based solutions are being widely adopted in organizations of all sizes because of their perceived faster time to value,  and lower cost of entry. This trend which started in the early 2000s was accelerated by the Covid-19 pandemic and has continued to grow. According to Gartner, subscription-based software has been the key driver of the global software licensing economy over the last decade.
