During this four-evening, game building event, youth will come together to learn and put their video game building skills to the test.
Are you a youth between the ages of 13 – 25 that has an interest in video game design and building? If the answer is yes then maybe Gamegen is the opportunity you have been waiting for.
This event has very limited slots so be sure to save your virtual seat now.
When registering you will be asked to join one of the two educational categories, junior/senior high or post secondary.
Throughout this four evening event, you will learn the skills necessary to develop, create, and pitch a videogame of your own creation. You will receive helpful tips and information from industry experts virtually from across Nova Scotia.
No team? No problem! We welcome both teams and individuals to participate. We will do our best to help you find a team.
If you have a group we do ask that each member of your group register separately.
How will this work?:
May 11 – 13, 2021 from 4:00pm – 6:00pm ADT you will virtually join a session where we will have an industry expert present on a topic related to what it takes to build a video game for the first hour. For the second hour we will have mentors available to book times with that will be able to chat through some challenges that you may be experiencing.
On May 18, 2021 from 4:00pm – 6:00pm ADT we will virtually come back together so that you can showcase what you have created. Each team or participant will have three minutes to pitch their game to a panel of judges.
Games will be judged on the game concept, completeness, and design, with extra points for innovation. Teams will be ranked by total score, with the top game in each of the two educational categories (junior/senior high and post secondary) winning monetary prizes.
