SEATAC supports the growth of the ocean economy by providing research services to local businesses and other organizations that work in the ocean technology sector. NSCC was awarded Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) funding to establish SEATAC in 2019, along with industry funding from Thales Canada and the Centre for Ocean Ventures and Entrepreneurship (COVE).
Nova Scotia’s first Technology Access Centre (TAC), SEATAC helps businesses be more productive and competitive through for-fee, easy access to research expertise and technology. SEATAC’s team is focused on addressing customers’ needs and collaborates with NSCC Applied Research and other NSCC departments to offer a wide array of services and expertise.
SEATAC’s services include: • Mechanical design engineering and prototyping • Various types of 3D printing • Data communications and analytics • High-resolution remote sensing • Geographic information system (GIS) capabilities.
