GameGen is a fun-filled event for youth ages 13 to 25 to learn and practice video game development through the use of Scratch or Unity. There will also be special presentations from industry experts. Volta, in partnership with Ignite Labs and Digital Nova Scotia, is pleased to help bring this event to life in Halifax.
Throughout this exciting weekend, you will develop, create, and pitch a videogame of your own creation. You will receive helpful tips and information from industry experts from across Nova Scotia. You will have a chance to get hands-on with tech and explore hot topics such as virtual reality, 3D modeling, and digital art.
We welcome both teams and individuals to participate. No team? No problem! Feel free to partner up when you come
If you do not have a computer, but want to participate, we have a limited number of computers available to borrow. (Please be sure to select the ticket option Require Use of a Computer)
Judging:
Each team or participant will have three minutes to pitch their game to the judges. Games will be judged on the game concept, completeness, and design, with extra points for innovation. Teams will be ranked by total score, with the top three games winning monetary prizes and an extra prize for a winner chosen by the audience.
The grand prize for this event is $500!
