Iaian Archibald is the Executive Director of DeepSense, an organization out of Dalhousie University’s Faculty of Computer Science whose mission is to help grow the marine economy with AI. Iaian is a seasoned entrepreneur and artificial intelligence (AI) strategist who specializes in the evolving landscape of emerging technologies. Previously as the CEO and co-founder of Swell Advantage, an ocean technology startup, he developed an innovative marina management software solution. The company was acquired in 2020.

Mbo (Bo) has a Master’s degree in Computer Science, and has been a coach with a specialization in Olympic Weightlifting for 8 years. Not many people have both of these skills, so he used them to make a big difference in sports. Mbo spent a lot of time making a product called Olyup that aims to help coaches, personal trainers and athletes take advantage of the latest advancements in Generative AI. It’s not obvious how to use AI (large language models) for people in sports – so Olyup has been busy trying to make this technology more accessible for them – from an educational standpoint and a workflow point of view, impacting everyone from the coaching staff to the athletes.

Known for his pragmatic approach, Junior blends deep technical expertise with a focus on ethical AI, delivering solutions that balance innovation, security, and real-world impact.
