The technology industry, not unlike many other industries, has been typically male-dominated in the past. However, new technologies, and a more virtually connected world, have been increasing access to information, technology concepts, and other thought leaders. Now, minority thought leaders are able to connect, engage, and participate in technology concepts more than ever before by using these same technologies. For instance, using AR, VR, and XR technologies, female youths can connect with leading women in STEM careers around the globe, and even those in more remote locations that would not traditionally have access to advanced programs can access higher learning resources. Combine this with the fact that AR and VR are proving an ability to create higher levels of empathy, and an ability to communicate new narratives on race, diversity, and inclusivity and a world that formerly seemed off-limits is becoming a lot more inviting to the diverse minds that are capable of advancing it even further.
In this panel, we will open the discussion to how AR, VR, and XR technologies are creating a more diverse and inclusive world, both within the industry and within the technology sector as a whole.
