Employment fell sharply in December, down from the previous month by 62,600 jobs.

Full-time jobs increased alongside fewer part-time.

The unemployment rate increased slightly in December to 8.6%, influenced by the job reductions.

The goods-producing sector added jobs (+11,300), while the service sector saw job reductions of 74,000.
