  • Employment grew at a strong pace in September, up from the prior month by 63,800 jobs.
  • The growth occurred in both full-time and part-time positions.
  • The rate of unemployment saw no change from last month, remaining at 5.5%.
  • The goods-producing sector lost jobs in September (-10,500), while the services-producing sector saw growth of 74,300 jobs.

Atlantic Canada

  • The Atlantic Region experienced growth in employment in September, amounting to 2,600 jobs, making it the fourth consecutive monthly gain.
  • Full-time jobs increased alongside fewer part-time.
  • The unemployment rate fell in the month to 7.5%.
  • The goods-producing sector lost jobs in September (-5,400), while the services-producing sector saw growth of 7,900 jobs.
