According to a report by Startup Canada, 42% of Canadian start-up businesses plan to adopt AI (EDC, 2018). Numerous reports predict that AI will be ubiquitous in Canadian companies across industries in the near future. Yet it has not been a priority among ocean tech firms to develop leaders in areas of new technology. These gaps can and will soon put our Ocean Tech industry at a competitive disadvantage. Workforce unfamiliarity with the various technologies, capabilities, materials, and techniques means that companies are not investing in new technologies or not leveraging them to their full utility.
Join us as three local industry leaders share their own experiences with adopting AI, robotics and automation technologies, and explore how these current and emerging technologies can support companies in the ocean tech industry.
COVE brings you a six-part discussion series designed to inform and support SMEs as they expand their ability to use data effectively and advance their digital maturity. Led by a technical expert in the ocean industry, panelists will share their first-hand experiences with recognizing the technology gaps as they related to their business, the sore points of adoption, and the benefits of adoption to their own business optimization. Our moderator and guests will provide an overview of examples of existing technologies that support the topic of focus, describe how the technologies can further support businesses, and provide an overview of adoption considerations.
