BEYOND DIGITAL RECOGNITION

We at DNS recognize that technical skills are only half of what makes a successful ICT employee. Non-technical skills, often referred to as “soft” skills, are vital to the growth and cohesion of technology organizations.

In the first phase of this two-phase project, we developed a competency framework to assess and recognize key non-technical competencies that are deemed relevant and in demand in the ICT sector. Phase 2 focuses on the design, development, and pilot testing of a comprehensive suite of assessment tools, resources, and processes. These tools will facilitate the robust evaluation of non-technical competencies, aiding in talent identification, recruitment, and development within Nova Scotia’s ICT sector.

The platform will allow hiring managers to arrange the competencies provided into a hierarchy that matches their organization’s needs. The platform will generate a stable link for their employees to complete the organization’s unique self-assessment and provide the hiring manager with a report indicating aggregated or individual-level results. It will also identify learning needs for advancement, support hiring and recruitment efforts, and assist with performance management.
