    This film screening & discussion will feature Shalini Kantayya's film ' Coded Bias'. This event is in recognition of the International Day for Women and Girls in Science. The hope is that this screening and discussion will encourage reflection and passionate collaboration between participants on the topic of bias in STEM. Coded Bias explores the fallout of MIT Media Lab researcher Joy Buolamwini´s startling discovery that facial recognition does not see dark-skinned faces and women accurately, and her journey to push for the first-ever legislation in the U.S. to govern against bias in the algorithms that impact us all. This film is rated M for Mature Audience (17+) and is open to all. Screening will take place via Zoom, a link will be emailed to all those registered. A discussion will follow the screening and will be led by Dr. Shohini Ghose, award-winning Quantum Physicist and NSERC Chair for Women in Science and Engineering, Ontario region.

    Learn how to bring your humanity to the ever-evolving workplace. About this event Work and workplaces are challenging and changing. Many face a return to work with continued transformations to how we work, whether we work from home, in a hybrid arrangement or in a physical workplace. This workshop will provide you with tools that will aid you in meeting the demands of your roles efficiently, effectively, and productively while attending to your well-being. Topics include: How to bring our humanity to our work while being true to our values and continue our self growth Ways to achieve a harmonious and productive return to the office How we can contribute to a healthy and safe work environment defined by positivity, inclusion and belonging. Co-Facilitated By: Pierre Battah - Award-winning author and a leadership and HR specialist. He is a longtime nationally syndicated workplace columnist for CBC/Radio-Canada, and a TEDx presenter.
