The Black Business Initiative is proud to be celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. To pay tribute to all the growth and accomplishments, BBI is hosting an awards dinner and gala on Friday, Nov. 26 at the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel. The theme for this significant year is a “A Milestone with Momentum”. As we reflect on, and celebrate 25 years of achievement, at the same time acknowledging that we are, in fact, ramping up for the next phase of ground-breaking business development led by BBI. We hope you will join us in this momentous celebration.

This session will provide you with a roadmap to success by introducing key programs and funding opportunities that can help grow your business. With presenters from the Business Development Bank of Canada, Export Development Canada, and the Trade Commissioner Service, this session is ideal for growth-oriented businesses and entrepreneurs interested in new market opportunities. The session will be facilitated by Dr. Leeno Karumanchery, Co-Founder and Head of Behavioural Sciences MESH Diversity. Leeno has over 28 years of experience and is world-renowned for his expertise in the fields of Emotional Intelligence and Diversity. A Tedtalk presented by Dr. Karumanchery is available below. Objectives The project’s specific objectives are to: Improve representation of Black Canadians within the banking sector; Improve understanding among banking sector stakeholders of industry-specific barriers and the inclusion of effective human resources practices to address them; and Develop new inclusion tools, such as the Inclusive Visioning Process road map, tailored to industry specific needs. As this is a national event, a series of events have been arranged with multiple sessions to accommodate as much of the banking sector as possible. Business Training Series The Black Business Initiative’s Training Department provides ongoing professional development and business training courses to Black entrepreneurs and employees. To be eligible for BBI training, you must be: A Black business owner based in Nova Scotia OR a Black employee currently working in Nova Scotia. All courses are scheduled on different weekdays/nights for 10 weeks. You may register for one course or for all three courses.
