Welcome to the team, Keats!

We're so excited to welcome our first Finance and Budget Officer to Digital Nova Scotia! With all of our recent growth, we're extremely pleased to welcome Keats to our tight-knit team. Keats will manage our financial operations and support our organization as we continue to support our thriving tech sector. Here's a few things you should know about our new hire... Tell us about yourself! What led to where you are today? I have a bachelor of arts and accounting degree equivalent (CPA Prep Certification), have been working in various accounting roles in tax, tech, transport and tourism for the last several years, and I've always wanted to work in a the non-profit sphere so I jumped at the chance to take this position when I heard of it! Outside of accounting my passion is music, I've been a working musician for the last ten years, released two albums on spotify etc and I'm in a band with my husband called Casual Cries For Help. What excites you the most about the tech sector in Nova Scotia? The current growth in the sector is really exciting to me, it allows for so many opportunities that previously weren't available. Giving skills and experience to people who may not normally have access and then pairing them with businesses in need of them. While you work, what do you have playing in the background? If I'm doing something more number/data entry oriented, I'll pop on a podcast like "Lore" or "How Did This Get Made", if I'm doing something more analytical I got lofi hip hop lady on with some white noise in the background. What’s something you're passionate about that would surprise us? I love anime and manga. I've been reading and watching it since I was a kid starting with Sailor Moon and have subscriptions to several online reading and streaming hubs. What three items you cannot live without (excluding food, water etc-)? My guitar, a notebook, and my nintendo switch Quick hitters! Spring or Fall? Fall! Android or iPhone?
