Welcome to Digital Nova Scotia, Robert!

July 16, 2021

The Digital Nova Scotia team is growing, we’ve added a new member to our team!

Robert Poirier was born in North Branford, Connecticut and moved to Canada as a young boy. He currently lives in Truro, Nova Scotia with his wife and two children. He has a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Saint Mary’s University, a Diploma in Computer Systems Management from NSCC, and earned his Project Management Professional Designation from the Project Management Institute. He comes to us with 15 years of experience in the Telecom Industry. While in this role he had significant experience in launching new products and services, developing customer-facing processes, system rebuilds, and other specialized projects.

We asked Robert some quick questions to help introduce him to the DNS community, here are his responses;

The tech sector in Nova Scotia is thriving, what are you most looking forward to about working in this industry? Is there a particular area in tech that excites you the most?

The thriving of the Nova Scotia Tech Sector is incredible. Nova Scotia has the right mix of educational institutions, infrastructure, an active start-up culture, and work-life balance to create a vibrant eco-system. If I can help to represent this sector and contribute to its growth and development, it will be an exciting and amazing opportunity.

So, you’ve finished one week with us – how was it?

My first week went by so fast! The DNS team has been incredibly friendly and welcoming. We have several great initiatives on the go and projects are being developed quickly to meet the needs of the sector and aid in the province’s recovery from the pandemic.

What’s something you’re passionate about that might surprise us?

I am an audiophile. I am always listening to music, podcasts, audiobooks or webinars. I even have them on in the background when I am working outside in the yard or washing the dishes.

If you were given a plane ticket to anywhere in the world, where would you want it to be?

The United Kingdom. I have always wanted to live in London and see other areas like Wales, Ireland and Scotland.
