Welcome to Digital Nova Scotia, Mitch!

The Digital Nova Scotia team is growing, we’ve added a new member to our team! Born in Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia, Mitch Jean is a graduate of NSCC’s IT Systems Management and Security program. He has experience working with small businesses on eCommerce operations, as well as enterprise-level software testing and consulting in the banking sector. Mitch is very passionate about enabling great things through the power of the internet and technology, which is exactly what Digital Nova Scotia is all about. He is looking forward to helping small businesses reach their potential through the Digital Assistance Program, and inevitably fix some networking or printing issues once everyone returns to the office. We asked Mitch some quick questions to help introduce her to the DNS community, here are her responses; The tech sector in Nova Scotia is thriving, what are you most looking forward to about working in this industry? Is there a particular area in tech that excites you the most? Nova Scotia is a hotbed for talent, especially when it comes to the tech industry. Being immersed in it all and meeting so many amazing people has been humbling - I’m just excited to see where the ride takes me! Honestly, IoT has become a yawn-inducing buzzword as of late, but it’s truly amazing what some sensors, data, and a network stack can accomplish. Really looking forward to seeing what comes next in that space. So, you’ve finished one week with us – how was it? Maybe a bit overwhelming at first (in the best way possible) but I’m grateful to be among such an awesome, supportive team. I foresee us doing great work together! What’s something you’re passionate about that might surprise us? I’ll have a hard time surprising anyone with my interests, but nonetheless, some of my favourite things are video games, consumer technology, craft beer, podcasts, pop music, Red Bull (sugar-free preferably), sunny days, and plain white t-shirts. If you were given a plane ticket to anywhere in the world, where would you want it to be? A solid 3-way tie between Buenos Aires, Kyoto, and New York City. This is my travel bucket list trifecta and I don’t think it’s changed since high school!
