Welcome to Digital Nova Scotia, Emily!

July 5, 2021

The Digital Nova Scotia team is growing, we’ve added a new member to our team!

Emily van den Hoogen graduated from the Business Administration program with a focus in Marketing at Nova Scotia Community College and was quickly immersed in the advertising industry here in Halifax. Working on clients like Subway, Nova Scotia Business Inc., Chorus Aviation, EPRA, QEII, and Tourism Nova Scotia. While working on campaigns and programs big and small, Emily honed her skills to help strategize, build and execute projects of all sizes for businesses local and international. With years of project management experience under her belt and a passion to see the province’s ICT sector flourish even more, the transition to Digital Nova Scotia was a no-brainer.

We asked Emily some quick questions to help introduce her to the DNS community, here are her responses;

The tech sector in Nova Scotia is thriving, what are you most looking forward to about working in this industry? Is there a particular area in tech that excites you the most?

Ocean tech was always something that intrigued me, Nova Scotia being Canada’s Ocean Playground and maybe the school trips to the B.I.O. as a kid may have had something to do with it, but it’s truly amazing how many exceptional businesses are creating cutting-edge technology in this province. Nova Scotia is teeming with talent across the board in tech, I’m just excited to see where we go from here!

So, you’ve finished one week with us – how was it?

It’s been a whirlwind (in the best way possible)! The team has been so helpful and supportive while I’m getting up to speed and I feel like I’ve been here for years, everyone is so chill and easy-going. The transition has been great!

What’s something you’re passionate about that might surprise us?

I love antiques but more specifically depression glass! The Antiques Roadshow theme song is my phone ringer.

If you were given a plane ticket to anywhere in the world, where would you want it to be?

Rapa Nui. Better yet, fly me to Peru and I’ll make my way down & across!
