We are thrilled to introduce the Data Analytics Students of the Month from August! These exceptional individuals have already demonstrated remarkable dedication and hard work, and we can’t wait to share their achievements.
Brian Jenkins
First up we have Brian Jenkins, originally from Newfoundland, currently living in Halifax after completing a Masters in Library and Information Sciences. After getting some hands-on work experience recording data and manipulating CRM systems, he realized he wanted to gain a more in-depth understanding of data skills. After hearing about the Skills for Hire Atlantic program he knew he had to apply as it would include both the instruction and professional development opportunities he was looking for.
When we asked Brian what he enjoyed most about the program so far he had this to say: “I feel supported while also being a self-driven learner. The Teaching Assistant I am working with has done a great job of answering questions and performing instruction sessions. Occasionally, I will overlook something and need to be steered back on course which is quickly corrected with a quick message to them. The choice of video topics and exercise questions come at the right time to build on what you have learned, the course pace is challenging but steady. I also appreciate being given opportunities to expand my network and meet other students in person! Although we are learning on our own time it’s great to meet together and see everyone in real life.”
Brian’s interest in Data Analytics came from working with different CRM’s and learning how to manipulate data, which sparked his interest and imagination. Ready for a new challenge it seemed Data Analytics was a skill that would be applicable to many different organizations. When asked what his dream job is, Brian has this to say: “If I could use my data skills to positively affect people’s lives that would make for a gratifying dream job. That would involve the heavy work of clearing, arranging, and analyzing data before presenting a data-based solution. I also enjoy the challenge of instruction, so showing others how to manipulate and analyze data would be very gratifying.”

Anna Ogarte
Next, we have Anna Ogarte! In 2019 Anna started on a transformative journey, immigrating to Canada from Singapore. With a background in IT, she was on a promising career path until unforeseen health challenges interrupted her progress. Now, while recovering, she has focused on leveraging her skills in Data Analytics, leading her to the Skills for Hire Atlantic program!
Anna’s interest in Data Analytics comes from her IT background and seeing the growing potential/importance of data and its capabilities to make significant impacts across various industries.
When asked what she is enjoying about the Skills for Hire Atlantic program, she had this to say: “As I enjoy gaining new skills and knowledge, Skills for Hire is also giving me the confidence to be able to re-enter the industry where I began my career.”
Looking ahead, Anna wants to work in Data Analytics because it offers the opportunity to continuously learn. She wants to contribute to creating meaningful and data-driven solutions.

Nous sommes ravis de vous présenter les étudiants du mois en analyse de données pour août!
Ces personnes exceptionnelles ont déjà fait preuve d’un dévouement et d’un travail
remarquables, et nous sommes impatients de partager leurs réalisations.
Brian Jenkins
Le premier est Brian Jenkins, originaire de Terre-Neuve, qui vit actuellement à Halifax après avoir
obtenu une maîtrise en bibliothéconomie et sciences de l’information. Après avoir acquis une
expérience de travail pratique en enregistrant des données et en manipulant des systèmes de
gestion de la relation client, il s’est rendu compte qu’il voulait acquérir une compréhension plus
approfondie des compétences en matière de données. Après avoir entendu parler du
programme Élevez vos compétences Atlantique, il a su qu’il devait poser sa candidature, car
celui lui offrirait à la fois l’enseignement et les possibilités de développement professionnel qu’il
recherchait.
Lorsque nous avons demandé à Brian ce qu’il avait le plus apprécié dans le programme jusqu’à
présent, il nous a fait part de ses commentaires : « Je me sens soutenu tout en apprenant par
moi-même. L’assistant pédagogique avec lequel je travaille a fait un excellent travail en
répondant aux questions et en organisant des séances d’enseignement. Le choix des sujets
des vidéos et des questions des exercices arrive au bon moment pour consolider ce que vous
avez appris, le rythme du cours est stimulant mais régulier. J’apprécie également les occasions
qui me sont données d’élargir mon réseau et de rencontrer d’autres étudiants en personne!
Bien que nous apprenions chacun de notre côté, c’est formidable de se rencontrer et de voir
tout le monde en chair et en os. »
Brian s’est intéressé à l’analyse des données en travaillant avec différents CRM et en
apprenant à manipuler des données, ce qui a éveillé son intérêt et son imagination. Étant prêt à
relever un nouveau défi, il lui a semblé que l’analyse de données était une compétence
applicable à de nombreuses organisations. Lorsqu’on lui demande quel est l’emploi de ses
rêves, Brian répond : « Si je pouvais utiliser mes compétences en matière de données pour
influencer positivement la vie des gens, ce serait un emploi de rêve gratifiant. Cela impliquerait
le lourd travail de nettoyage, d’organisation et d’analyse des données avant de présenter une
solution basée sur les données. J’aime aussi le défi de l’enseignement, donc montrer aux
autres comment manipuler et analyser les données serait très gratifiant ».

Anna Ogarte
Nous avons ensuite Anna Ogarte! En 2019, Anna a entamé un voyage transformateur en
immigrant au Canada depuis Singapour. Avec une formation en informatique, elle était sur un
chemin de carrière prometteur jusqu’à ce que des défis de santé imprévus interrompent ses
progrès. Maintenant, tout en se rétablissant, elle s’est concentrée sur l’exploitation de ses
compétences en analyse de données, ce qui l’a amenée à participer au programme Élevez vos
compétences Atlantique!
L’intérêt d’Anna pour l’analyse des données vient de sa formation en informatique et du fait
qu’elle a constaté le potentiel et l’importance croissants des données et leur capacité à avoir un
impact significatif dans divers secteurs d’activité.
Lorsqu’on lui a demandé ce qu’elle appréciait dans le programme Élevez vos compétences
Atlantique, elle a répondu : « J’aime acquérir de nouvelles compétences et connaissances,
mais le programme me donne aussi la confiance nécessaire pour réintégrer l’industrie où j’ai
commencé ma carrière. »
Dans l’avenir, Anna souhaite travailler dans le domaine de l’analyse des données parce qu’il
offre la possibilité d’apprendre en permanence. Elle souhaite contribuer à la création de
solutions significatives et fondées sur des données.
