Martin Unukpo – Cybersecurity Stream
For Martin Unukpo, cybersecurity is a natural evolution of a career defined by precision, analysis, and impact. He began his professional journey in aviation as a Flight Operations Analyst, where real-time decision-making and accuracy were critical. In recent years, he has worked as a Supply Chain Data Analyst, uncovering patterns, optimizing workflows, and safeguarding sensitive operational data. From troubleshooting inventory systems to modeling logistics performance, Martin has built a strong foundation in structured problem-solving and technical communication.
“Cybersecurity felt like the right next step,” he shares. “It’s a way to apply my analytical mindset and problem-solving skills to protecting systems and analyzing threats. I’m energized by the challenge and the potential for impact.”
What Martin enjoys most about Skills for Hire Atlantic is the balance between technical depth and community. “It’s the mix of real-world insight and a genuine sense of connection,” he says. “The industry events are eye-opening, the Pluralsight content is practical, and the class forum fosters thoughtful exchange and collaborative growth. It’s not just a course—it’s a space where curiosity meets connection.”
His favourite course so far has been Log File Analysis, a module that brought together his love for data and storytelling. “It’s where everything clicked,” Martin explains. “Seeing how raw log data can tell a story—whether it’s a signal, a pattern, or a red flag—was fascinating. It deepened my appreciation for structured analysis and sharpened my eye for patterns in the noise.”
Martin’s dream job blends data analytics, storytelling, and cybersecurity. He hopes to lead projects that make threat detection and response more accessible, especially for organizations serving vulnerable communities. “I want to build tools that help teams spot suspicious activity faster and respond with clarity,” he says. “It’s a goal I’m working toward—one skill and one log file at a time.”

Tetiana Tokar – Cybersecurity Stream
For Tetiana Tokar, curiosity and precision have always gone hand in hand. Originally from abroad, she began a new chapter of her life in Canada with years of experience as a Software QA Engineer. Her professional journey has been driven by a love for testing systems, finding weaknesses, and making things work flawlessly.
“I’ve always had a passion for breaking things and finding weaknesses,” Tetiana shares. “I love when everything around me works perfectly — that’s what led me to become a tester.”
Her interest in cybersecurity came naturally. Fascinated by how attackers think and how systems can be protected, Tetiana was eager to understand the logic behind it all. “I’ve always been curious about how cybersecurity works and how people find loopholes to get what they want,” she says. “So when I got the opportunity to explore it more closely, I couldn’t pass it up.”
Through the Skills for Hire Atlantic program, Tetiana is now building on her technical foundation while exploring a new dimension of her field. “I really enjoy that the program offers a variety of interesting learning paths that help people move forward, gain new skills, and grow as professionals,” she explains. “The materials are well designed, engaging, and clearly explained by the instructor.”
Her favourite part so far has been the cryptography section of the cybersecurity course.
“It’s fascinating how mathematical principles can be applied to encrypt and decrypt data,” she says. “When you don’t know how it works, it seems like magic—but once you understand it, everything appears so logical and elegant.”
Looking ahead, Tetiana’s dream job is to become a penetration tester — a role that perfectly blends her analytical mindset with her love of problem-solving. “It combines two things I really enjoy — finding weaknesses and making the digital world safer and better,” she says. Driven by curiosity and a passion for learning, Tetiana is ready to turn her testing instincts into a force for security.

Andreea Ioana Rusu – Cybersecurity Stream
With a background in marketing and quality assurance testing, Andreea Ioana Rusu has built a career defined by curiosity, adaptability, and continuous learning. Her professional journey has taken her through web development, data analytics, and project management — each step bringing her closer to the field that now excites her most: cybersecurity. “I recently discovered how exciting cybersecurity is, and I’m extremely grateful to be able to take these courses,” she shares.
For Andreea, the Skills for Hire Atlantic program has been both inspiring and engaging.
“I really enjoy the interactive live sessions with the TAs and how my colleagues participate in class,” she says. “The certifications, industry panels, and career development workshops all add so much value.”
The program’s hands-on approach and focus on real-world applications have made the learning experience particularly meaningful.
Her favourite course so far has been Cybersecurity Fundamentals. “It’s interactive, and we get real-life examples that make it easy to connect theory with practice,” she explains. The blend of technical learning and applied scenarios has helped her strengthen her understanding of how to keep systems — and people — safe.
Andreea’s interest in cybersecurity began after transitioning into Quality Assurance Testing. Seeing firsthand how systems could be improved for safety and resilience sparked a deeper curiosity about the mechanisms that protect users online. “I want to learn more about how to help people stay safe online,” she says.
Looking ahead, Andreea hopes to work in a dynamic environment with plenty of opportunities for growth. She’s driven by a desire to keep learning, contribute to meaningful projects, and continue building her career at the intersection of technology and security.

Oyedoyin Agbaje – Data Analytics Stream
With a strong background in software development and business analysis, Oyedoyin Agbaje has always been driven by a passion for problem-solving through data and technology. Over the years, she has worked on projects that strengthened her analytical mindset, attention to detail, and ability to bridge the gap between business goals and technical implementation. Joining the Skills for Hire Atlantic program felt like the perfect next step — a way to build on that foundation through structured learning in Cloud Computing (AWS) and Data Analytics while preparing for her first data-focused role in North America.
“I love that the program supports both individuals pivoting into IT and those with prior experience,” Oyedoyin shares. “Its comprehensive blend of technical training, soft-skill development, and industry sessions makes it uniquely valuable and practical. The live sessions are engaging and collaborative, encouraging real-world application of what we learn.” She adds that despite being offered at no cost, the program’s structure and quality easily rival many paid professional trainings.
Oyedoyin’s interest in data analytics comes from its emphasis on facts over assumptions.
“Data provides clarity and enables informed decision-making, while its predictive capabilities open pathways for innovation and problem-solving,” she explains.
She finds this combination both intellectually rewarding and professionally relevant, especially as industries increasingly rely on data to drive meaningful change.
Her dream job is to work as a Data Analyst or Business Data Analyst, helping organizations turn raw information into actionable insights that guide better decisions. “I want to be part of a team where data isn’t just stored, but actively used to improve how things work across sectors and industries,” she says. In the long term, she hopes to grow into a role that brings together data strategy, AI, and cybersecurity to build smarter and safer digital systems.

Brad Rykenhuizen – Data Analytics Stream
For as long as he can remember, Brad Rykenhuizen has been passionate about computers and technology. That early interest led him to begin professionally developing software at just 20 years old. After facing a few life setbacks at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and eventually returning to his home province of Nova Scotia, Brad decided it was time to refocus and advance his career. Over the past year, he has been sharpening his technical skills—earning Microsoft Cloud Computing certifications and beginning an advanced diploma in Business Analysis at NSCC. His goal now is to pivot from an individual contributor role into one where he can collaborate closely with stakeholders to solve high-level business problems as a Business Analyst or Product Owner.
“The skills I’ve been learning from Skills for Hire Atlantic are a key ingredient for helping me stand out in today’s job market,” Brad shares. “It’s been an opportunity to build both technical expertise and confidence while learning alongside people who share similar goals.”
So far, he has particularly enjoyed learning Python through the program. “As a long-time SQL user, I came into the course wondering why someone would use Python over SQL,” he explains. “After just a few weeks of Sahana’s classes and the Pluralsight coursework, I can clearly see the advantages and understand the use cases for Python in data analytics.”
Brad’s passion for data analytics stems from his curiosity and appreciation for data-driven insight. “I’ve always enjoyed working with data,” he says. “The more I understand the role of a Data Analyst, the more I realize that a lot of the work I enjoyed in previous roles was adjacent to data science. I now have a better understanding of how to draw valuable insights that make a difference.”
As for his dream job, Brad keeps an open mind. “If lottery winner is already taken,” he jokes, “I’m not sure there’s a specific title or company I’m drawn to. I like being in places where I can make an impact and be proud of the work I’ve done.” For him, fulfillment comes from knowing his contributions can positively affect the lives of many.

Fatma Nabieva – Data Analytics Stream
With a master’s degree in Business Informatics and hands-on experience in analytics and data solutions, Fatma Nabieva is building a career that blends technical expertise with strategic thinking. She has developed Power BI dashboards, built Power Apps for inventory management, and created data-driven solutions using SQL and Python. Joining the Skills for Hire Atlantic program has helped her strengthen those skills while gaining deeper, practical experience in data analytics.
“What I enjoy most about the Skills for Hire Atlantic program is the combination of practical learning and professional growth,” Fatma shares. “Every module—whether SQL, Python, or data visualization—helps me see how data can solve real-world problems. The instructors and the community have created such a positive, inspiring environment that keeps me motivated to keep improving.”
Fatma’s interest in data analytics stems from her passion for understanding how data shapes smarter business decisions.
With her background in Business Informatics and current experience in an analytics-focused company, she’s witnessed firsthand how data can drive efficiency and innovation. “That experience inspired me to strengthen my skills in SQL and Python through this program and continue developing as a Business Intelligence Analyst,” she explains.
Looking ahead, Fatma’s dream job is to work as a Business Intelligence Analyst at a forward-thinking, data-driven company such as Google, Microsoft, Irving, or IBM. She is fascinated by how large organizations leverage data to power innovation and strategy. “I love using analytical reasoning and programming to tackle complex challenges,” she says. Over time, she hopes to deepen her expertise in Python and transition into Data Engineering, designing scalable data pipelines and architectures that enable robust analytics.

Pour Martin Unukpo, la cybersécurité est l’évolution naturelle d’une carrière marquée par la précision, l’analyse et l’impact. Il a commencé dans l’aviation comme analyste des opérations de vol, où la prise de décision en temps réel et l’exactitude étaient essentielles. Ces dernières années, il a travaillé comme analyste des données en chaîne d’approvisionnement, mettant au jour des tendances, optimisant les flux de travail et protégeant des données opérationnelles sensibles. Du dépannage des systèmes d’inventaire à la modélisation de la performance logistique, Martin a bâti de solides bases en résolution structurée de problèmes et en communication technique.
« La cybersécurité s’est imposée comme la prochaine étape logique, » partage-t-il. « C’est une façon d’appliquer mon esprit analytique et mes compétences de résolution de problèmes à la protection des systèmes et à l’analyse des menaces. Le défi et le potentiel d’impact me stimulent. »
Ce que Martin apprécie le plus dans Skills for Hire Atlantic, c’est l’équilibre entre profondeur technique et esprit de communauté. « C’est le mélange d’enseignements ancrés dans le réel et d’un véritable sentiment de connexion, » dit-il. « Les événements industriels ouvrent les yeux, le contenu Pluralsight est concret, et le forum de classe favorise des échanges réfléchis et une progression collective. Son cours préféré à ce jour est Log File Analysis, un module qui réunit son goût pour les données et la narration. « C’est là que tout a fait tilt, » explique Martin. « Voir comment des journaux bruts racontent une histoire — un signal, un motif ou un drapeau rouge — était fascinant. Cela a renforcé mon intérêt pour l’analyse structurée et aiguisé mon œil pour déceler des motifs dans le bruit. »
Le poste rêvé de Martin combine analytique de données, narration et cybersécurité. Il souhaite diriger des projets qui rendent la détection et la réponse aux menaces plus accessibles, notamment pour les organisations au service de communautés vulnérables. « Je veux créer des outils qui aident les équipes à repérer plus vite des activités suspectes et à y répondre avec clarté, » dit-il. « C’est un objectif que je poursuis — une compétence et un fichier journal à la fois. »

Tetiana Tokar – Volet cybersécurité
Pour Tetiana Tokar, curiosité et précision vont de pair. Originaire de l’étranger, elle a entamé une nouvelle étape de sa vie au Canada après plusieurs années d’expérience comme ingénieure QA logicielle. Son parcours professionnel est guidé par l’envie de tester les systèmes, de trouver leurs faiblesses et de faire en sorte que tout fonctionne parfaitement. « J’ai toujours eu la passion de “casser” et de trouver des failles, » confie Tetiana. « J’adore quand tout autour de moi marche à la perfection — c’est ce qui m’a menée vers le test. »
Son intérêt pour la cybersécurité s’est imposé naturellement. Fascinée par la manière de penser des attaquants et par les mécanismes de protection, Tetiana voulait en comprendre la logique. « J’ai toujours été curieuse de savoir comment fonctionne la cybersécurité et comment on exploite des brèches, » dit-elle. « Quand j’ai eu l’occasion d’explorer cela de plus près, je n’ai pas hésité. »
Grâce au programme Skills for Hire Atlantic, Tetiana consolide sa base technique tout en explorant une nouvelle dimension de son domaine. « J’apprécie vraiment la variété de parcours proposés, qui aident à avancer, à acquérir de nouvelles compétences et à grandir professionnellement, » explique-t-elle. « Les supports sont bien conçus, captivants et clairement expliqués par l’instructeur. »
Sa partie favorite du cours de cybersécurité est la cryptographie.

Elle souhaite évoluer dans un environnement dynamique offrant de nombreuses opportunités de croissance, continuer à apprendre, contribuer à des projets porteurs de sens et bâtir sa carrière à l’intersection de la technologie et de la sécurité.

Oyedoyin Agbaje – Volet analyse des données
Dotée d’une solide expérience en développement logiciel et analyse d’affaires, Oyedoyin Agbaje est animée par la résolution de problèmes grâce aux données et à la technologie. Au fil des projets, elle a affûté son esprit analytique, son sens du détail et sa capacité à faire le lien entre objectifs d’affaires et mise en œuvre technique. Rejoindre Skills for Hire Atlantic était l’étape idéale : consolider ses acquis par un apprentissage structuré en informatique en nuage (AWS) et analyse de données, tout en se préparant à son premier poste axé données en Amérique du Nord.
« J’adore que le programme soutienne autant les personnes en reconversion que celles déjà expérimentées, » partage Oyedoyin. « Son mélange d’apprentissage technique, de compétences transversales et de séances avec l’industrie le rend unique et très concret. Les séances en direct sont engageantes et collaboratives, et encouragent l’application réelle de ce que nous apprenons. » Elle ajoute que, bien que gratuit, le programme rivalise par sa structure et sa qualité avec de nombreuses formations payantes.
L’intérêt d’Oyedoyin pour l’analytique vient de sa primauté des faits sur les hypothèses.
« Les données apportent de la clarté et permettent des décisions éclairées, tandis que leurs capacités prédictives ouvrent des voies d’innovation et de résolution de problèmes, » explique-t-elle.
Cette combinaison est à la fois stimulante intellectuellement et pertinente professionnellement.
Son poste rêvé : analyste de données ou analyste d’affaires – données, afin d’aider les organisations à transformer l’information brute en insights actionnables. « Je veux faire partie d’une équipe où les données ne sont pas seulement stockées, mais utilisées pour améliorer les façons de faire, » dit-elle. À plus long terme, elle souhaite réunir stratégie data, IA et cybersécurité pour bâtir des systèmes numériques plus intelligents et plus sûrs.

Brad Rykenhuizen – Volet analyse des données
Depuis toujours, Brad Rykenhuizen est passionné par l’informatique et la technologie. Cet intérêt précoce l’a amené à développer des logiciels professionnellement dès 20 ans. Après quelques revers au début de la pandémie de COVID-19 et son retour en Nouvelle-Écosse, Brad a décidé de se recentrer et de faire progresser sa carrière. L’an dernier, il a renforcé ses compétences — certifications Microsoft en informatique en nuage — et a entamé un diplôme avancé en analyse d’affaires au NSCC. Son objectif : passer d’un rôle de contributeur individuel à un poste où il collabore étroitement avec les parties prenantes pour résoudre des problématiques d’affaires de haut niveau, comme analyste d’affaires ou Product Owner.
« Les compétences que j’apprends avec Skills for Hire Atlantic sont un ingrédient clé pour me démarquer sur le marché actuel, » partage Brad. « C’est l’occasion de développer expertise technique et confiance, aux côtés de personnes qui partagent des objectifs similaires. »
Il a particulièrement apprécié l’apprentissage de Python. « Grand utilisateur de SQL, je me demandais pourquoi utiliser Python plutôt que SQL, » explique-t-il. « Après quelques semaines de cours avec Sahana et de modules Pluralsight, je vois clairement les avantages et les cas d’usage de Python en analytique. »
La passion de Brad pour l’analytique découle de sa curiosité et de son attachement à la décision fondée sur les données. « J’ai toujours aimé travailler avec les données. Plus je comprends le rôle d’un analyste, plus je réalise que bien des tâches que j’aimais auparavant frôlaient déjà la data science. Je sais désormais mieux extraire des insights qui comptent. »
Quant à son poste rêvé, Brad garde l’esprit ouvert. « Si “gagnant à la loterie” est pris, » plaisante-t-il, « je ne vise pas un titre ou une entreprise en particulier. Je veux être là où je peux avoir de l’impact et être fier de mon travail. » Ce qui l’anime : savoir que ses contributions peuvent améliorer la vie de nombreux utilisateurs.

Fatma Nabieva – Volet analyse des données
Titulaire d’une maîtrise en informatique de gestion et forte d’une expérience concrète en analytique et en solutions data, Fatma Nabieva construit une carrière alliant expertise technique et sens stratégique. Elle a conçu des tableaux de bord Power BI, développé des Power Apps pour la gestion d’inventaire et créé des solutions basées sur SQL et Python. Le programme Skills for Hire Atlantic lui a permis de consolider ces compétences tout en gagnant une expérience pratique plus approfondie en analyse de données.
« Ce que j’aime le plus, c’est la combinaison d’apprentissage pratique et de progression professionnelle, » partage Fatma. « Chaque module — SQL, Python, visualisation — montre comment les données résolvent des problèmes réels. Les instructeurs et la communauté créent un environnement positif et inspirant qui me pousse à continuer de progresser. »
Son intérêt pour l’analytique vient de sa volonté de comprendre comment les données éclairent de meilleures décisions d’affaires.
Avec sa formation en informatique de gestion et son expérience actuelle au sein d’une entreprise axée données, elle a vu comment l’analytique stimule l’efficacité et l’innovation. « Cette expérience m’a poussée à renforcer mes compétences en SQL et Python grâce au programme et à poursuivre mon développement comme Business Intelligence Analyst, » explique-t-elle.
Pour la suite, Fatma vise un poste de Business Intelligence Analyst dans une entreprise tournée vers l’innovation — Google, Microsoft, Irving, IBM, par exemple. Elle est fascinée par la manière dont les grandes organisations exploitent d’importants ensembles de données pour nourrir stratégie et innovation. « J’aime mobiliser le raisonnement analytique et la programmation pour résoudre des problèmes complexes, » dit-elle. À terme, elle souhaite approfondir Python et évoluer vers l’ingénierie des données, en concevant des pipelines et des architectures évolutives au service d’analyses robustes.
