MEG MEDIA: Helping Women-Led Businesses Navigate Digital Marketing

July 16, 2025

When Meg Stewart started MEG MEDIA, she wanted to give small business owners, especially women, an easier, more personalized approach to get their marketing on track. Based in Halifax, she runs an independent consultancy offering brand strategy, SEO, content marketing, and social media support.

“My goal is to make every client feel like they’re my only client,” Meg says. “That level of care is hard to get with big agencies.”

Meg had worked in marketing and communications for over 15 years before launching MEG MEDIA. Her previous role at a local agency made her realize she was already handling every aspect of client projects, start to finish, on her own. That’s when she decided to take the risk and go solo.

“I figured if I’m already doing the work, why not do it on my own terms? Focus on the industries I care about, charge what I’m worth, and build real client relationships.”

Two clients followed her right away, and just like that, MEG MEDIA was born.

Incidentally, she already had the domain name saved from her time at the NSCC 14 years prior. “Someone reached out recently to buy megmedia.ca and I just couldn’t part with it. I kept thinking, no, this is me. This is who I am. And I’m glad I didn’t because it’s now my brand”.

Simple, Flexible, and Client-Focused

MEG MEDIA offers three main services: brand strategy, content marketing, and social media management, but it’s never one-size-fits-all. Meg tailors every project to the client’s current needs and goals.

For brand strategy, she helps businesses define their mission, approach, and visuals, whether that’s building a full brand from scratch or refreshing existing visual assets. She often partners with trusted designers and developers within Nova

Scotia to deliver things like logos, websites, and visual identities.

“I don’t pretend that I can do everything alone. I bring in the right people when needed, and the client always gets a say in who’s on the team.”

With content marketing, Meg supports clients with blog posts, newsletters, web copy, and many other forms

of communication. She always makes sure everything sounds on brand and speaks to their audience. It’s a mix of writing, planning, and helping clients figure out what their brand voice should be.

On the social media side, she offers both strategy and execution. That might mean building a content calendar, creating branded templates, or helping clients show up more consistently online without burning out.

“Some clients want help planning and others want hands-on support.” Meg adds “I can do both, or just guide them so they feel confident doing it themselves.”

A prime example is her project with Spencer’s Garden Center. She helped modernize their brand by simplifying their logo and turning their signature hummingbird into a recognizable mark across social, signage, and more.

“They acted on my recommendations right away and saw a massive uptake both in their social media and in their sales the month after everything was implemented.”

Supporting Female Founders

MEG MEDIA naturally attracts businesses led by women, and Meg is proud of that. Around 80–90% of her clients are female founders starting or growing their own businesses in Atlantic Canada.  “A lot of my clients are figuring things out as they go, and I’ve been there.” Meg adds, “I know what it’s like to wear every hat and not know where to start with marketing.”

“As a female founder myself, I know how overwhelming it can be. I want to make marketing feel manageable and clear.”

For Meg, the best part of the job is that first chat with a new client and the moment when things click. “When the energy’s right and we both feel excited about the work, that’s the best feeling.”

Beyond her services, Meg offers encouragement and direction. She connects clients with grant opportunities, walks them through the ‘why’ behind every decision, and always aims to leave them feeling more confident than when they started. She stays in touch after projects wrap, checks in, and is always open to follow-up questions. It’s part of her goal to keep clients feeling supported and never left hanging.

What’s Next for MEG MEDIA

Meg’s excited about what’s ahead for MEG MEDIA, but she’s not rushing into scaling just for the sake of it. Right now, she’s focused on deepening her one-on-one work with clients, especially through larger brand strategy and identity projects.

She’s also continuing to grow her referral network, connecting with other marketers, designers, and women in business to build a trusted circle. And while she uses tools like ChatGPT to support brainstorming or beat writer’s block, she’s keeping the heart of her work rooted in real conversations and human connection.

“I’m not trying to become a big agency. I love the close, personal work, and being able to choose clients with values that line up with mine.”

Long-term, she hopes to offer more resources, like workshops, templates, and digital guides, to support founders who want guidance but aren’t quite ready for one-on-one consulting yet. At the end of the day, MEG MEDIA is all about giving clients the time, attention, and advice they need to feel confident about their brand.

“You’re not just another name in a spreadsheet. I’m here to help, and I care about getting it right.”
