With cohort three of the Skills for Hire Atlantic program already past the halfway mark we are seeing so many dedicated participants push forward through the content. For the month of April, we have yet again highlighted some of those hard-working participants. Congratulations!
Our first student of the month for the web development learning stream is Ola Makhlouf. Ola is an architect with a passion for technology and programming. After beginning her self-taught journey and learning the fundamentals, she found her interest in web development growing.
“Eventually, I was given an opportunity to enroll in the SFHA program, which offered a unique blend of technical and personal development to become ready to start a new role in the tech sector. My experience in architecture engineering has taught me to be detail-oriented and design-focused, while my technical training has equipped me with the necessary tools to create and innovate.”
Ola sees how her skills developed through her career in architecture will lend themselves to a career in website development.
“As an architect, I have always been interested in design and aesthetics. Web development allows me to combine my love for design with my passion for technology to create beautiful and functional websites and applications. The combination of my passion for technology, design, and the constant opportunity to learn and grow makes web development an exciting and fulfilling career choice for me.”

Our second student of the month is Kostiantyn Vasylitsev. As an electro-mechanical engineer with 10 years of experience Kostiantyn moved to Canada and decided it was time to try something new. Since then, he has pivoted to a career as an automotive technician and is yet again ready to embark on a new journey. After acknowledging his childhood passion – he decided to give it a chance.
“Since high school, I was passionate about programming, while other classmates used computers for playing games I was interested to figure out how it works and how to control it.”
Currently enrolled in the web development program with Skills for Hire, Kostiantyn is doing just that. So far he is enjoying Java Script, PHP and the interactive and community that the program offers.
When asked what his ideal job looks like he said that he would love the flexibility of be creative and work on his own startup in creating an application that makes our lives a little easier.

Alors que la troisième cohorte du programme Élevez vos compétences Atlantique a déjà dépassé la moitié de sa durée, nous voyons de nombreux participants dévoués progresser dans le contenu. Pour le mois d’avril, nous avons une fois de plus mis en lumière certains de ces participants qui travaillent dur. Félicitations !
Notre premier étudiant du mois pour la filière d’apprentissage du développement web est Ola Makhlouf. Ola est une architecte passionnée de technologie et de programmation. Après avoir commencé son parcours en autodidacte et appris les principes de base, elle s’est intéressée de plus en plus au développement web.
« Finalement, j’ai eu l’occasion de m’inscrire au programme EVCA, qui offrait un mélange unique de développement technique et personnel pour être prête à commencer un nouveau rôle dans le secteur de la technologie. Mon expérience en ingénierie architecturale m’a appris à avoir le souci du détail et à me concentrer sur la conception, tandis que ma formation technique m’a dotée des outils nécessaires pour créer et innover. »
Ola voit comment les compétences qu’elle a développées au cours de sa carrière d’architecte se prêteront à une carrière dans le développement de sites web.
« En tant qu’architecte, j’ai toujours été intéressée par le design et l’esthétique. Le développement web me permet de combiner mon amour pour le design et ma passion pour la technologie afin de créer des sites web et des applications beaux et fonctionnels. La combinaison de ma passion pour la technologie, le design et l’opportunité constante d’apprendre et d’évoluer fait du développement web un choix de carrière passionnant et épanouissant pour moi. »

Notre deuxième étudiant du mois est Kostiantyn Vasylitsev. Ingénieur électromécanique avec 10 ans d’expérience, Kostiantyn a déménagé au Canada et a décidé qu’il était temps d’essayer quelque chose de nouveau. Depuis, il s’est réorienté vers une carrière de technicien automobile et est à nouveau prêt à s’embarquer pour un nouveau voyage.
Après avoir reconnu sa passion d’enfance et décidé de lui donner une chance.
« Depuis le lycée, j’étais passionné par la programmation, alors que d’autres camarades de classe utilisaient des ordinateurs pour jouer, j’étais curieux de comprendre comment ils fonctionnaient et comment les contrôler. »
Actuellement inscrit au programme de développement web d’Élevez vos compétences, c’est exactement ce que fait Kostiantyn. Jusqu’à présent, il apprécie Java Script, PHP ainsi que l’interactivité et la communauté qu’offre le programme.
Lorsqu’on lui demande à quoi ressemble son emploi idéal, il répond qu’il aimerait avoir la possibilité d’être créatif et de travailler sur sa propre startup en créant une application qui rendrait nos vies un peu plus faciles.
