Our Get Into IT Program allows us the opportunity to profile up-and-coming tech talent! This month we are celebrating Kate-Lynn Shediac and Dalwinder Singh as our students of the month, so if you’re potentially looking for a new hire, keep reading to learn a little more about them.
Introducing Kate-Lynn Shediac! We’d like to give Kate-lynn a virtual round of applause for her efforts in the Get Into IT, IT Support Specialist Program. Kate-Lynn was destined to succeed in this program because she is an enthusiastic student who is constantly striving to enhance her skill sets. Having graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Saint Mary’s University, she has continued to develop not only through work experience but also through her personal learning endeavors such as the Get Into IT program.
Now living and working in Yarmouth Nova Scotia, Kate-Lynn decided to join the Get Into IT program in hopes to upgrade her digital skills and knowledge. She expressed her love for meeting new people during her courses, and pointed out that the Hardware course has been her favourite thus far. Moving forward, Kate-Lynn is excited to pursue her dreams as she becomes a working professional.
“The people organizing the course are very helpful with the course material, and also with providing extra information that would be helpful in any IT related role. I really enjoy the Zoom calls that are there to help with the soft and technical skills required to transition into a different role.”

Dalwinder Singh is our second student of the month! Dalwinder, a Langara College alumnus with a Diploma in Computer Science, is ecstatic about the Get into IT program. He is currently enrolled in the Cybersecurity Analyst (IBM) course and has already made significant progress. This is a critical stepping stone for Dalwinder as he makes his way into the IT industry.
Thus far, he has enjoyed the program tremendously and found it well structured and relevant to industry needs. His favourite course so far has been Cybersecurity Compliance and Framework; this course has helped him understand the structure of files and different operating systems. Dalwinder is eager to enter the IT industry and aspires to be an Application Penetration Tester.
“The whole team works very hard to make things simple for us. The best part of the program are the classes, they are very informative and straightforward.”
– Dalwinder Singh
Digital Nova Scotia’s Get Into IT program is designed to assist learners who have traditionally encountered challenges entering the tech sector. Get Into IT provides participants with digital and professional skills training at no cost, where learners from underrepresented communities are invited to become active members of the province’s IT sector through this program.
