Meet our Skills for Hire Students of the Month for August 2021!

The last year has been challenging for many people, and sometimes it takes something new and exciting to help get you out of a rut. That’s exactly what Skills for Hire was for our Nova Scotia student of the month, Alfred Frendo-Cumbo. A 31-year old self-taught freelance software developer with a background in chemistry, Alfred grew up both in Canada and Germany. With an interest in beautiful but functional websites, Alfred enjoyed learning about how they are made, and developing his skills in CSS and JavaScript. When asked about his experience, he shared “I feel like I can once again achieve new things with actual meaning.” Congratulations Alfred on completing the Skills for Hire Web Development Program! ______________ With a BSc in Business Information Technology, Muna Ghulam is no stranger to the world of tech. A keener when it comes to learning, she jumped at the opportunity to participate in Skills for Hire and upgrade her skills to stay up-to-date with our ever-changing industry. Our Newfoundland and Labrador Student of the Month, Muna has dreams of playing a crucial role with a company as a UX/UI designer, bringing her formal education and new Skills for Hire knowledge with her. “The program is creative and interesting, and the team have made my experiences enjoyable. I’m happy to have participated and hope it helps lead me to my dream job” As an IT graduate, building web applications is something Muna loves to do for fun. She is always ready to learn more and enthusiastic about searching for new, better, and innovative solutions to challenges. Our sector is extremely fortunate to have talent like Muna, and her drive and determination to achieve her goals is truly remarkable! Keep going Muna, we can’t wait to see what you do next!
