Our first Student of the Month for Get Into IT, Erica Clark, is a young professional aspiring towards a career in Cybersecurity.
A self-proclaimed tech-nerd, Erica’s interest in IT began at an early age as she recalls the excitement brought on by playing her Nintendo gaming console as a kid. Tech aside, Erica is a huge animal-lover, having had her pet dog as a study partner since September. When she’s not studying or spending time with her dog, Erica likes to relax with a good book.
When asked about the Get Into IT program, Erica had nothing but good things to share, saying that she “really loves the program and the people in it”. When asked about her favourite aspect of the program, Erica elaborated that she really enjoyed connecting with her classmates, and is appreciative of the lasting relationships she’s made that will continue long after her time with the program is over.
I really appreciate the great support system and my mentor who I’ve had weekly sessions with. I will be forever grateful for that.
– Erica Clark, Get into IT, Cybersecurity Student
When asked what her favorite course was with Get Into IT, Erica said that she particularly loved the unit on penetration testing and incident responses. Erica hopes to harness some of the skills she has learned to help realize her dream career as an Ethical Hacker or as a Pen Tester.
Congratulations to Erica for being recognized as Get Into IT’s Student of The Month! If you would like to connect with Erica, she can be reached via LinkedIn or email

For our second Student of the Month at Get Into IT, we are proud to introduce Certified Career Development Practitioner and Case Manager, Loretta Lynn Littlejohn.
This has truly been an adventure and I look forward to continuing that adventure in other IT certifications and courses where I can obtain more knowledge and be able to put that knowledge to good use for a big organization
– Loretta Lynn Littlejohn, Get into IT, IT Support Student
A mother of five and grandmother to two, Loretta comes to Get Into IT with diverse career experience and skills. Loretta prides herself on being a lifelong learner, having worked in Social Services, private investigation, and human resources. In her free time, Loretta enjoys listening to historical accounts and discovering inspirational stories and quotes. She was kind enough to share one of her personal favourite quotes, found below.
“When life puts you in tough situations, don’t say ‘Why me?’ Say ‘Try me.'” – Unknown Author
Loretta has found her time with Get Into IT very impactful, having learned numerous new skills including binary codes, taking a computer apart and putting it back together, and the compression of IPv6 codes. She was also able to expand on topics with which she was already familiar such as FTP’s, software programs, and logging tickets for IT.
When asked what interested her in IT, Loretta commented on the evolving characteristics of the workplace, noting “I knew that this was a career that is always going to be in high demand and since the pandemic, I noticed that a lot more remote opportunities have been happening with most employers”. Loretta has always been interested in learning more about computers, and a career in IT allows for many opportunities to work remotely which is important to her as an eager traveller.
Although she had never given it much thought, Loretta shared a few dream jobs that she would love to put her IT skills to work for. In the future, she would love to work at a big tech company like Microsoft or Google. She would also jump at the chance to work for Disney World and be able to take her family on vacations there!
Congratulations to Loretta for being selected as a Get Into IT Student of the Month! If you wish to connect with Loretta, she can be reached via LinkedIn or email
