We’re turning the spotlight on Maplewave, a Halifax tech company doing big things in the telecom game. One of the forces behind it is Dom Dib, Maplewave’s Director of People & Culture, who brings a passion for building a workplace where people feel truly valued.

When you walk into Maplewave’s Halifax office, there’s an immediate sense that you’re part of something bigger. “There’s a vibe here that’s hard to explain,” says Dom Dib. “You walk in and feel like you belong.”
Maplewave builds modular telco commerce platforms for telecom companies around the world. In plain terms, they help telecom businesses improve how they serve customers online, in-store, and everywhere in between. Their software is flexible, and focused on removing friction from everyday transactions.
Dom describes it like this: “You can start shopping online and finish in-store without any hiccups. It’s about making the experience seamless for the end customer, and easier for our clients to manage on the backend.”
A Culture That’s Meaningful

Dom lights up when talking about the team. “My favourite part of the job is the people, hands down. We’ve built something really special here. It feels like a family.”
That isn’t just his experience. From day one, employees are welcomed with open arms and clear expectations. Regular check-ins, one-on-ones, and a focus on removing roadblocks help keep everyone aligned and supported. There’s a strong sense of purpose, and leadership works hard to make sure each employee understands how their role contributes to Maplewave’s bigger goals.
“We hear it from new hires all the time” Dom notes, “they feel it the moment they walk in.”
The company is also active in the community, supporting local charities like Feed Nova Scotia and Light the Night. A dedicated employee-led committee keeps the giving spirit alive with fundraising events and donation drives throughout the year.
Helping Clients Modernize Without the Headache
In the telecom world, many companies are still running on old systems while trying to keep up with new digital demands. Maplewave’s platform is built to bridge that gap by offering point-of-sale systems, paperless contracts, self-service apps, business reporting, and more, all in one flexible system.
Clients can pick and choose what they need, plug it into what they already have, and scale over time. “We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all,” says Dom. “We work closely with clients to build what makes sense for them.”
From discovery to implementation to ongoing support, Maplewave focuses on long-term relationships, not quick sales. “It’s collaborative from the start,” Dom adds. “We’re in it together.”
Embracing the Future, Together
Maplewave isn’t just keeping up with change, they’re leaning into it. A recent company-wide town hall focused on how AI is being integrated across departments to support them.
“We’re using AI to boost efficiency and free up time for more meaningful work,” Dom explains. “It’s about staying current and making sure our teams are ready for what’s next.”
Dom recently completed a 10-week AI course tailored to HR, and he’s excited about how these tools can improve hiring, training, and day-to-day operations. “AI’s not going anywhere. The more we understand it, the more we can use it to grow together.”
Defining Success on Their Own Terms
When asked what success looks like at Maplewave, Dom keeps it simple with happy customers and a thriving team.
“The number one thing for defining success is ensuring our customers are satisfied with what we offer.” He adds, “If we’re delivering what our clients need and our people feel supported, we’re doing something right.”
With a global client base, a strong team culture, and a focus on innovation that doesn’t lose the human touch, Maplewave is proving that you don’t have to choose between great tech and great people. You can have both, and still build something even better.
