Great Strides at the Digital Discovery Camp

Another Incredible Summer at The Digital Discovery Camp! For the last 8 years, Digital Nova Scotia has worked in partnership with The Discovery Centre to run our Digital Discovery Camps across Nova Scotia, making its mark on Nova Scotian communities, focusing on reaching underrepresented and marginalized communities across the province.

The entry-level camps for young tech enthusiasts between the ages of 9 - 14 years old are hosted at the Discovery Centre and throughout Nova Scotia in Halifax, Yarmouth, Bridgewater and Pictou County. This years camps would not be possible without the help of our EPIC Gigabyte sponsor REDspace, Megabyte sponsor MOBIA, Kilobyte sponsors Arcurve, Seaside Communications, League Data, Lockheed Martin, CGI and Community sponsors Garvin-Allen Solutions, CloudKettle as well as our partnerships with various community groups. able to provide fun and integrative experiences for the youth of Nova Scotia! This year alone we welcomed nearly 90 new and familiar campers from across Nova Scotia, each bringing their own diverse perspectives and experiences to the table. Throughout the summer, these campers were introduced to inspiring mentors that provided 16 unique hands-on sessions which touched on coding, robotics, game development, communications, and practical skills for success! These sessions not only provided first-hand insight into what our province’s tech industry has to offer, but they also created a safe space for the kids to tap into their curiosity and creativity through countless questions, answers, and a broad range of activities. We are extremely grateful for REDspace, Arcurve, Skills NS, Brilliant Labs, Coding Ninjas, and Hutch Games for putting forward incredible mentors and unforgettable experiences to the Digital Discovery Camp family! Watching the Digital Discovery Camp come to fruition and inspire the next generation has been wonderful to witness and experience firsthand. With this summer coming to an end, we are humbled to shine a spotlight on the fun and exciting high points of the DDC Program.
