Despite employing high-performing people from right around the world, the bulk of Foundation Marketing’s team is right here in Nova Scotia, a team they’re gearing up to grow significantly over the next year.
Foundation Marketing is a content marketing agency that uses research and data to help B2B Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) brands generate more revenue, leads, traffic and results through content marketing. Its Nova Scotia team consists of nine ambitious strategists, creators and tinkerers.
“Our hearts have always been in Nova Scotia because that’s where the vast majority of our team is but we are a fully global and remote company that employs people from all over the world,” said Ross Simmonds, the company’s founder and CEO.
“Whether we’re talking about Foundationites who live in Nigeria, Ireland, Philippines, or Ontario our global team provides so much value to one another that it allows all of us to do our best work.”
Over the next year, Foundation Marketing is looking to grow its team by 30 per cent. Its growth strategy is focused on creating systems and procedures that allow brilliant people to do great work.
“In the upcoming year, the priority is more documentation and investment in technology like artificial intelligence (AI) and a continued commitment to building a culture that fosters high performance” said Simmonds.
“Great Nova Scotians are strongly encouraged to apply to work at Foundation because we are always looking for brilliant minds who love content, SEO, SaaS and digital marketing.”
People who believe there is no such thing as a “boring” industry, like the team at Foundation Marketing. Rather, they believe there are just markets that have yet to see great creativity and great content—which is where they come in.
“The biggest challenge that brands run into that operate in ‘boring’ industries is that they oftentimes limit themselves to the stories that their competitors are producing, and their competitors are oftentimes creating stories that are actually quite boring,” said Simmonds.
“Instead, they need to zig while others zag and prioritize telling stories that resonate with humans in a way that is meaningful and ultimately measurable for their own businesses.”
As for the biggest trends shaping SaaS marketing today? The rise of ChatGPT and other variations of AI, said Simmonds.
“More SaaS companies are looking for ways to incorporate AI into their workflows and into their marketing engines and are using these tools to either create long-form content or arm brilliant minds with these tools to create quite amazing content,” he said, adding his biggest piece of advice would be to “tread carefully and ensure that you do your due diligence before going all in.”
