In this day and age, it can be difficult to find the perfect talent to fill positions in your company, but Facet is here to create those relationships and secure the talent you need to succeed.
Facet was created as an extension of Royer Thompson to service companies hiring entry-level positions to middle to senior management level positions across all industries in Atlantic Canada. Through stakeholder engagement, Facet’s creation was the culmination of a demand for a different approach to recruitment and underdeveloped product offering in the market.
The local recruitment firm was established in 2022 in the Atlantic Canadian market and is eager to grow its client base and services. Their focus in the technology industry is rooted in their passion and experience working with technology companies. Bailey Murphy has worked with companies hiring IT talent, Holly Bond is a supporter of the Ocean Technology sector, supporting start-ups in the space. Thomas Martin, a recent MTEI graduate brings an interest in technology start-ups and companies in the region with a particular focus on their long-term growth in Nova Scotia. Through collective experiences, their team brings unique perspectives to the market. They love Nova Scotia, what’s not to like? The growth and opportunities in this market are why they focus on Atlantic Canada but are expanding their service to Ontario and beyond.
“We have a strong commitment to the people; both in the organizations we serve and the candidates we represent, to provide them with support through an experience of excellence in service, knowledge, and outcome,” said Facet Recruiter, Thomas Martin.
Facet thrives on its involved process with clients, showing a deep level of care for each candidate and client, as every search is different. This shines through all levels of the company, as their motto is “People are our passion.”
“I can say with admiration that the team at both Facet and Royer Thompson care deeply about the people we work with,” said Martin. “Without that care, we cannot provide the level of service we strive to give to our clients. It is what sets us apart.”
Facet puts emphasis on its competitive advantage through the level of communication and extraordinarily solid foundation it builds with its clients, which is the key to its success.
“Our team takes great care in learning from the members of an organization, understanding what makes their organization unique, and what qualities they are looking for from a candidate.”
The hard work in building relationships with its clients is proven successful with the positive feedback received from its clients.
“The best compliment we can get is that our clients have a tough time choosing which candidate they should hire from our candidate pool when it narrows down to the final interviews,” said Martin. “Our candidates are unique, and we treat them with respect and empathy. In the changing market and job landscape post-Covid, it is required to take the steps necessary to ask the right questions and pinpoint the skillsets an organization needs to find the right candidate for continued growth for both the candidate and the organization.”
Facet’s process is one that includes continuous communication with their clients and candidates through the process and keeping the experience light and fun. They take the time to understand their clients needs and really pick out the best candidates who can help them growth long-term.
Their team is fun, energetic, and dedicated to supporting their clients in their long-term growth. They host great networking event, just ask some of the folks who have attending events in the past! Holly and Bailey steer the ship, keeping morale high and supporting the team. Mady, Susan and Thomas are the crack team of Recruiters who focus on various industries as their speciality. Mady, particularly is the teams go to support for marketing, website design and video/visual editing.
For those looking to make a change in their career path, this is their feedback:
Research and understand Generative AI, Facet continues to have discussions about the proper and safe use of AI in an ever-increasing online world while maintaining a personable writing approach. This is an area that candidates can develop within organizations.
Be sure to be prepared with knowledge of the company, take time to research what the next step in your career looks like and make a positive move for the long term.
Show confidence in yourself and your abilities and prepare great questions to ask the interview panel. Be engaged in all facets of the recruitment process to show your interest, learn and achieve.
Facet also provides their Breakthrough Leadership Program. Holly Bond on the program:
“We conducted focus groups with 25–45-year-olds while developing the concept for Facet. What we heard most frequently was three things: 1. candidates want to be treated with respect and not treated like a commodity for sale 2. they wanted to build their network, but not in a stuffy, old-fashioned way, they wanted it to be different and 3. they aspire to be leaders and wanted to learn to become strategic leader and people managers. So, we worked hard with this demographic and tackled (successfully) all the above. We treat candidates with the respect and
empathy they deserve, we have well-attended and super-fun networking sessions, and we created the Breakthrough Leadership Program. This is an impactful 12-week live, virtual program and we are blessed to be working with facilitators who also work with IKEA, Under Armour and Tampa Bay Lightening to name a few.”
Facet has grown exponentially since its creation a year ago, with an incredible number of relationships made with clients in the Atlantic region.
“As Halifax and the Atlantic region continue its record growth, we are excited to be there for those organizations new and old that are looking to embark on their growth strategies.”
