At the premier Cannexus24 conference in January, Digital Nova Scotia’s (DNS) Skills for Hire Atlantic (SFHA) program shone brightly as DNS Project Manager Judith Dardon and EnPoint CEO Chantal Brine shared the transformative impact the free 20-week career-building program has had on its hundreds of participants.

Cannexus24 is Canada’s largest bilingual career development conference, so we were thrilled to share about Skills for Hire Atlantic, our bilingual Atlantic Canada-wide program born out of a collaborative effort to address the tech industry’s talent needs in Atlantic Canada. This program is an accessible opportunity for aspiring professionals entering the field, teaching students valuable skills in cybersecurity and data analytics.

During their presentation, Judith and Chantal shared success stories of SFHA participants, whose testimonials illustrated the program’s profound impact on individuals’ lives.

“The program’s emphasis on real-world applications, combined with the exceptional support from the Skills For Hire Atlantic team through live tutorials, a dedicated Slack channel, and the Career Kickstarter series, not only equipped me with skills crucial for the ever-evolving tech sector but also deepened my understanding of its most critical division – cybersecurity. This knowledge and experience are invaluable assets for my future in the tech industry,” shared a program participant.

By prioritizing not just technical skill-building, but also career development and industry connections, Skills for Hire Atlantic ensures participants are well-prepared for the job market’s complexities. Offering free virtual training programs in data analytics and cybersecurity, SFHA will engage 1,500 participants over three years. As of today a total of 501 participants have graduated and 978 individuals have secured new job placements or continued their education. These numbers go beyond statistics, representing real stories of transformation and advancement.

As Skills for Hire Atlantic continues to evolve, it stands as a testament to the power of collaboration and community-driven growth in the tech industry. While the journey is ongoing, each success story reaffirms its commitment to empowering tech talent across Atlantic Canada.
