Discovery Awards for Science and Technology 2018 - Call for Nominations!


The Discovery Centre is looking for nominations for its 16th Discovery Awards for Science and Technology. You have until May 31st to nominate Nova Scotia’s best and brightest in science and technology! The Discovery Awards bring together academia, businesses, and the community to honour the exemplary work that has propelled Nova Scotia forward in the fields of science, tech, and innovation. Whether it be an invention, a cutting-edge study, a life-long professional dedication, or a commitment to the promotion of STEAM. This year’s nomination categories include:Professional of Distinction - An individual who is a leading innovator and a role model for those pursuing a career in science and technology Science Champion - An individual who promotes science and technology to the public, above and beyond the normal avenues of communication Innovation - A company that has produced a commercially viable product or service that is ready to, or has already market- launched Emerging Professional - An individual under the age of 35 who demonstrates intellectual achievement, professional excellence, and promise for ongoing development and success If you have an outstanding person or business in mind, please take a moment to visit www.thediscoverycentre.ca/events/annual-events/discovery-awards to fill out an official submission form. There, you may also find more information about the event, past recipients, and nomination criteria. Additionally, the Discovery Centre is seeking recommendations for inductees to their Science Hall of Fame. To put forth a candidate who has made a major impact on the world of science and tech, please email halloffame@thediscoverycentre.ca. The Discovery Centre staff look forward to receiving your nominations by May 31st and seeing you at the Discovery Awards on November 22nd, 2018. Tickets for the event will be on sale in July.
