May 14, 2025

CGI is committed to ensuring successful results on its client’s return on investments through its IT and business consulting services. In this article, we talked with Jonathan Feindel of CGI about CGI’s identity, approaches, building trust with clients, and the future of IT consulting with CGI Next.

CGI’s Approach to Digital Transformation

In CGI’s 49 years of operations, it has implemented many strategic capabilities that have allowed the company to stay ahead of the curve and consistently meet and exceed both customer and business needs. The integration of digital transformation into its business consulting services enables CGI to provide end-to-end solutions, including advanced data analytics and AI-powered investment support.

“We support clients right from ideation of the digital transformation need, all the way through business and operational changes, development, and maintenance of the solution,” Jonathan explained.

Why Clients Trust CGI

CGI strives to deliver high-quality solutions to its clients, with a strong focus on excellence and satisfaction. Rather than relying on extensive traditional advertising, CGI instead relies on a reputation of delivering quality solutions and outcomes. Its most powerful tools are a track record of delivery excellence, quality of services of its services and the dedication of its partners (employees).

“All of our partners and employees are shareholders in CGI, so there’s a sense of shared ownership across the business,” Feindel added. “Our employees and partners take a high degree of investment and integrity in the solutions they deliver to clients.”

Trends Shaping the Future of IT Consulting

As technology rapidly evolves, digital transformation is no longer limited to traditional IT roles. Increasingly, engineers, business graduates, and MBA students are joining CGI, bringing fresh perspectives on how AI can help organizations operate more efficiently.

“We’re seeing business grads, engineers, and MBAs learn technology quickly and drive real impact—those two sides are converging,” Feindel noted.

CGI’s Role in Key Industries

Financial Services, healthcare, and government are three of CGI’s major focus areas—and have become key pillars of the company’s strength. With operations in 44 countries, CGI maintains a strong client base in these sectors by partnering with client organizations that value long-term collaboration.

“All of those industries are significant areas of change where organizations need a partner like CGI to help navigate the ins and outs of investments and advances,” Jonathan stated.

CGI’s Identity and Regional Growth

CGI is proud to be Canadian-owned and headquartered. In Atlantic Canada, the firm’s identity and commitment are reflected in its steady regional growth.

“In Atlantic Canada, we are continuing to be an employer of choice and a partner of choice for our clients and member partners,” Feindel stated. “Our latest addition of our St. John’s, Newfoundland office means we now have all four provinces covered.”

CGI Next and Early Talent Development

Developing our region’s next generation of digital consultants, CGI Next was created by young professionals to foster social connection and the development of the next generation. CGI supports ongoing personal and professional development through mentorship and early career initiatives. CGI Next helps new employees integrate into the company while promoting CGI’s culture and opportunities.

“We’ve quadrupled the number of people under 30 in our organization in the last three years, so that has changed the culture,” said Jonathan. With an influx of Gen Z employees, CGI recognizes their desire to build strong relationships and enjoy their work experience.

Jonathan added, “They are helping the co-op students integrate when they arrive—and those students are now connecting with high school students through camps and outreach events.”

What’s Next for CGI

CGI has recently expanded its business consulting presence through acquisitions in Quebec, the U.S., and Europe. As the industry grows, CGI is actively recruiting computer science students with strong business skills, and business students and MBAs with strong tech capabilities.

CGI is also committed to building a more diverse workforce by engaging with African Nova Scotian and Indigenous communities. The company continues to invest in building confidence and leadership in women beginning their careers in technology.

Looking ahead, CGI remains focused on developing a workforce that reflects the diversity of the communities it serves—while continuing to lead in innovation, consulting, and people-first growth.
