BeResponsive Media: Celebrating 10 Years of Dedication and Growth

This June marks a significant milestone for BeResponsive Media as it celebrates 10 years in the B2B and B2G sectors. Founded in 2015 by David Tonen and Garth Holmes, BeResponsive Media has evolved from a full-service marketing firm into a specialized agency serving clients in the public safety and security, education, and health industries. To commemorate this 10-year milestone, they hosted a celebration on May 31, bringing together team members and their families to honour the agency’s remarkable achievements and bright future.Starting as a two-person operation, Tonen and Holmes built BeResponsive Media on a foundation of transparency and client-focused service. Today, the company has grown to a team of seven, driven by a shared mission to deliver targeted expertise that empowers organizations across North America.
“Being an entrepreneur involves taking many risks, and Garth and I have navigated every challenge with unity to forge our pathway forward. It's exciting to see our business evolving and experiencing success!” Tonen added.
Reflecting back on the journey
COO Garth Holmes credits the company’s evolution to a sharp focus on niche markets. “Ten years ago, BeResponsive was a standard marketing job shop. Since 2020, we have niched down to focus our expertise on B2B and B2G marketing in the public safety and security, education, and health sectors. And we're seeing amazing results,” Holmes noted. This strategic pivot has allowed BeResponsive Media to tailor its services to the unique needs of these critical industries, delivering impact and forming trusted partnerships.
Reflecting on the company's pathway, CEO David Tonen shared, “To hit 10 years is a testament to the sacrifices and hard work our team has invested in overcoming obstacles, challenges, and creating strategic differentiation in our work.”
Throughout its decade-long journey, BeResponsive Media has embraced change, moving offices to accommodate growth and collaboration. From its first office on Hollis Street in downtown Halifax to Workspace Bedford and its current location at Brookline Plaza, the company’s moves over the years reflect its evolution. Alongside these moves, the team has prioritized building a culture of local talent and creative problem-solving, a strength that proved invaluable during the challenges of the global pandemic.
