- Employment rose during the month by 39,800 jobs, making it the fourth consecutive monthly gain.

- The unemployment rate fell in the month to 5.1%, reaching its lowest point since the survey began in 1976.
- The goods-producing sector lost jobs in May (-41,200), while the services-producing sector saw growth of 80,900 jobs.

- The goods-producing sector lost jobs in May (-5,100), while the services-producing sector saw growth of 4,000 jobs.
