Atlantic Labour Market Brief: August 2024
Canada
- The number of people employed increased in August by 22,100 jobs.
- Part-time jobs increased while full-time jobs declined.
- The rate of unemployment increased this month to 6.6%, its highest since September 2021.
- The goods-producing sector added jobs (+2,700), while the service sector saw growth of 19,500 jobs.

Atlantic Canada
- Employment grew at a strong pace in August, up from the previous month by 5,600 jobs.
- Growth occurred in both part-time and full-time jobs.
- The unemployment rate fell in the month to 7.5%, influenced by job gains.
- The goods-producing sector added jobs in August (+800), while the service sector saw growth of 4,700 jobs.
