Atlantic Game Studios Set to Level Up at World’s Largest Gaming Expo

Global Stage Awaits: Applications Open for Gamescom 2025 Trade Mission

HALIFAX, NS, July 7, 2025 – Atlantic Canada’s game developers have a chance to take their games global this summer as Digital Nova Scotia opens applications for its Gamescom 2025 trade mission, sending 15 local studios to the world’s biggest video game event in Germany this August.

Studios from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador will join global industry leaders under the Canada Pavilion, tapping into new export markets, meeting international publishers and investors, and showcasing Atlantic Canadian talent on a global stage. This collaborative presence is coordinated in partnership with the Embassy of Canada to Germany, Trade Commissioner Services, and other provincial and federal stakeholders, reflecting Canada’s strong commitment to supporting its digital industries internationally.

“Atlantic Canada’s game industry is punching above its weight, but global reach is critical. Gamescom connects our studios directly to international buyers, investors and media, opening doors they can’t reach alone. ” says Owen Sagness, CEO at Digital Nova Scotia. “With growing uncertainty in international trade relationships, it’s more important than ever to diversify Canada’s export markets.”

Why Gamescom matters:

Canada’s game industry generates over $5 billion a year, with over 88% of that coming from exports. Atlantic Canada’s 40+ studios are ready to grow, but global deals are critical to scale up, protect jobs, and compete internationally. With the shifting trade landscape, companies can’t afford to rely on one market alone. Gamescom puts Atlantic studios in front of the world’s top publishers and investors, opening doors to new revenue, partnerships, and global audiences.

What selected companies get:

  • 2 Gamescom 2025 passes and MeetToMatch B2B access
  • Up to $750 in marketing support
  • Expert on-site coaching, B2B training, and on-site business development support through XP Gaming

  • Promotional and business development support before, during and after the event

The mission is delivered with partners including XP Gaming, the Interactive Society of Nova Scotia, InteractiveNB, Canada’s Trade Commissioner Service, and supported through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency’s Atlantic Trade and Investment Growth Strategy.

This trade mission is made possible through the support from The Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency’s (ACOA) Atlantic Trade and Investment Growth Strategy. Through this trade mission, we will contribute to the goals and objectives of the Atlantic Trade and Investment Growth Strategy, a collaborative, pan-Atlantic approach to help Atlantic businesses begin exporting, increase their export sales, expand to new markets, and attract foreign direct investment. The Strategy was developed jointly by the governments of Canada, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador.

Financial support for the Atlantic Game Development Industry Trade Mission to Gamescom 2025 is provided in part through the Atlantic Trade and Investment Growth Agreement, between the Government of Canada and the governments of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador.
