For the last 7 years, Digital Nova Scotia has worked in partnership with The Discovery Centre to run our Digital Discovery Camps across Nova Scotia. Digital Discovery Camp has made its mark on Nova Scotian communities, focusing on reaching underrepresented and marginalized communities across the province. The entry-level camps for young tech enthusiasts are hosted at the Discovery Centre and various locations throughout Nova Scotia and would not be possible without the help of our Epic Gigabyte sponsor REDspace, Kilobyte sponsor Garvin Allen, Megabyte sponsor Lockheed Martin and Community sponsor NSCC as well as our partnerships with various community groups.
The collaborative spirit and support of our community partners and sponsors has been instrumental in making the rural camps possible. This year we hosted 4 free Digital Discovery camps between July 12th and August 26th in 6 different locations. Camps were hosted in Bridgewater at the YMCA Youth Centre, in Spryfield at the Chebucto Family Centre in partnership with Brendan Magquire’s office and In The Loop Association, and Ignite Labs in New Glasgow and Yarmouth.

“My favourite activity was making the video game project that we did. I really enjoyed doing that because I understood doing scratch and coding much better, and it was just so much fun making the games and playing them!”.

It has been astounding to see the impact Digital Discovery Camp has had on Nova Scotian youth. It is with great pleasure that we celebrate this year’s DDC program highlights and wish to thank all those who were involved.
A Huge Thank You Again to our amazing Sponsors!
