Technical Writer – Proposal, Grant, Reports
At Forward Creative, we help organizations shape their message and lead with confidence. Rooted in Atlantic Canada and working nationally, we specialize in delivering clear, strategic, and creative communications that drive trust and growth—for governments, small businesses, and community change-makers.
We are seeking a Technical Writer — someone highly organized, detail-oriented, and confident navigating complex information. This role is central to our business development and delivery functions, contributing to strategic proposals, funding applications, reports, and communications that help our clients grow, adapt, and lead.
This position is ideal for a strong writer who understands structure, strategy, and the funding landscape — and can deliver high-quality content that is both technically sound and aligned with real-world outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
– Research and identify grant, funding, and procurement opportunities across public and private sectors.
– Write and develop high-quality grant applications, project proposals, and RFP responses for government, small business, nonprofit, and corporate clients.
– Prepare project reports, supporting documents, and outcome summaries, ensuring all information is clear, well-formatted, and aligned with strategic goals.
– Collaborate with internal teams to gather client insights, project data, and service models that strengthen proposals and align with funder expectations.
– Maintain and update proposal templates, organizational profiles, and boilerplate materials for efficiency and consistency.
– Track deadlines, submission requirements, and deliverables related to grant and proposal work.
– Support business development efforts by contributing to strategy development, funding roadmaps, and partnership opportunities.
Your Skills & Experience:
– A clear, structured writer with strong attention to detail and the ability to work across multiple industries and proposal types.
– Confident navigating granting systems, RFP portals, and submission processes, especially in government and nonprofit contexts.
– Able to distill complex or technical information into concise, accessible, and persuasive content.
– Experienced in technical writing, business development, or public sector documentation.
– Strong communicator and collaborator with the ability to manage timelines and feedback from multiple stakeholders.
– Comfortable balancing multiple priorities and working to tight deadlines.
– Familiar with proposal evaluation criteria and the funding landscape in Atlantic Canada is an asset.
What You Bring:
– Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in grant writing, proposal development, or technical communications.
– Experience writing for nonprofits, small businesses, or government clients.
– Strong research, writing, and editing skills — with a focus on clarity, accuracy, and impact.
– Proficiency in Google Workspace; experience with CRM or grant management software is a plus.
– High standards, accountability, and a commitment to quality and impact.
Benefits:
– Contract-to-hire structure with full-time benefits upon transition
– Health and dental coverage
– Paid sick leave
– Bonus structure based on performance and impact
Growth & Learning:
– Onboarding and coaching from senior team leads
– Ongoing mentorship across and professional development
– Purpose-driven work across government, community, and business sectors.
– Remote work with flexibility and autonomy – Must be in Nova Scotia
