Solutions Architect – Contract
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Solutions Architect to design and implement the architecture for a modern, secure, and scalable Secure File Transfer System (SFTS) platform. This position will play a critical role in delivering a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) by March 31, 2026, in collaboration with internal teams using Agile methodologies.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and has a strong foundation in modern software architecture, cloud infrastructure, and cybersecurity best practices.
This role is remote but MUST be able to work Pacific Time zone hours of 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership
- Act as the lead architect and trusted advisor on technology and architecture decisions.
- Guide teams on software engineering best practices, including microservices and CI/CD.
- Lead infrastructure and deployment architecture design and implementation.
- Security & Compliance
- Provide strategy and implementation for identity and access management (IAM).
- Ensure the architecture complies with privacy, security, and regulatory standards.
- Lead the development and submission of Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA) and Security Threat Risk Assessments (STRA).
- Architecture Delivery
- Design and iterate on secure and scalable system architecture aligned with MVP objectives.
- Produce and maintain high-quality architectural documentation and diagrams.
- Agile Collaboration
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and reviews.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to refine scope and deliverables.
- Transition Support
- One month before contract conclusion (or earlier if requested), conduct:
- Training sessions and code reviews.
- Knowledge transfer to future technical teams.
- Establish support channels to ensure continuity.

Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Solutions Architect or similar role.
- Strong background in:
- Cloud-native architectures and infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Identity and access management (IAM) design and implementation.
- CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices.
- Microservices and container orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Expertise in security, privacy, and risk management frameworks.
- Experience in delivering complex technical documentation, PIA, and STRA.
- Ability to work effectively within Agile teams and lead architectural efforts in sprints.
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Previous experience working on government or regulated-sector digital platforms.
- Familiarity with transitioning systems to operational teams.
- Certifications in cloud architecture, security, or Agile practices are an asset.
