QuickFacts is an InsureTech company that organizes information and presents it on a single search-engine web application. Currently, we provide the solution to the insurance industry, offering brokerages a one-stop location for all their carrier information and organizational workflows.

About the Role: 

As a Senior Software Engineer at QuickFacts, you’ll get to do more than work on boring projects or ones with no customer base. You’ll showcase your expertise in software development while having freedom for the creativity needed to expand our offering and provincial coverage across Canada! More specifically, you’ll get to:

  • Champion opportunities to consistently improve the QuickFacts experience
  • Build a platform to aid the customer journey and identify opportunities to facilitate the  client’s experience
  • Develop user stories in the customer journey and map those to code
  • Develop infrastructure to help test new strategies for driving customer value
  • Build and maintain efficient QA tools and test suites to cover product evolution
  • Coach and mentor other team members and provide guidance to junior team members
  • Find ways to incorporate customer feedback in the development cycle
  • Apply a detail-oriented approach concerning documentation and communication

 

Qualifications: 

  • Working experience with JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue or Angular)
  • Professional experience with application state management tools and concepts (Redux, Mobx, Flux, etc)
  • Hands-on experience designing, developing or maintaining RESTful APIs (Node.js, Java, Python)
  • A deep understanding of front-end fundamentals, semantic HTML, SCSS and JavaScript to build efficient, performance focused, well-structured user experiences
  • Understanding of OOP and MVC
  • Ability to contribute to product and systems design strategies and documentation
  • Experience developing on Linux or MacOS
  • Experience with Git and CI/CD in a professional setting
  • Strong attention to detail and initiative in identifying solutions to complex problems
  • Strong organization skills
  • A high level of confidentiality, discretion, and professionalism is a must
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a small team
  • Willingness to learn and build professional skills
  • Strong communication skills, including active listening and clear messaging
  • Proficient in the English language
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and manage team members in the achievement of targets and adherence to standards
  • Build strong relationships with co-workers based on trust and accountability
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work closely with all team members to build a great product
  • A valid Canadian work permit

 

Nice to have: 

  • Experience in developing/maintaining NPM modules is an considered an asset
  • Background or interest in data analysis
  • Background or interest in NLP and processing written text
  • Background or interest in machine learning
  • Previous experience in the insurance industry
