Project Manager, Communications/Government

We’re looking for a Project Manager, Communications who can lead with calm, connect across sectors, and manage both complexity and creativity. You’ll guide major accounts, oversee project teams, and act as the senior lead on high-stakes, high-impact initiatives—from government communications to integrated marketing campaigns.
This role is equal parts leadership and execution. You’ll be the client’s trusted partner, the team’s anchor, and the strategist who keeps projects moving forward with clarity and confidence.
Key Responsibilities:
– Lead a portfolio of client projects—developing timelines, managing deliverables, and building strong, trusting relationships
– Act as the senior lead on strategic communications, government files, and complex multi-stakeholder campaigns
– Develop and execute communications strategies, from proactive messaging to crisis response
– Write proposals, develop scopes, and oversee strategic deliverables that set the tone and direction for success
– Support business development and small business growth efforts alongside our leadership team
– Lead community engagement and multi-stakeholder relationships
– Assist the project director in maintaining and building relationships across government and private clients
– Balance multiple accounts and internal teams, shifting priorities with poise and attention to detail
Coach junior staff, shape internal systems, and contribute to the culture of care and excellence at Forward Creative
Your Skills & Experience:
– Strategic mindset with sharp instincts for communication, branding, and project flow
– Calm, credible presence—especially in high-pressure or client-facing settings
– Naturally kind and collaborative, with strong boundaries and accountability
– Excellent written and verbal communicator with confidence in presenting and leading conversations
– Experienced in government communications, business strategy, or marketing with purpose
– Strong foundation in project management and cross-functional collaboration
– Adept at navigating ambiguity while keeping projects organized and focused
– Skilled in frameworks, planning tools, and client service
What You Bring:
– 6+ years of experience in strategy, communications, or project management
– Background in communications, marketing, or business strategy
– Experience working with government, small business, or mission-driven organizations
– Strong proposal writing and business development skills
– Ability to lead calmly through competing deadlines, shifting priorities, and complex stakeholder needs
– High standards, deep curiosity, and a drive to deliver meaningful outcomes
